Guy makes a ton of TFL's. Very aggressive player. Could do well as an OLB or FB . I like him at LB more because he shows a natural instinct for where the ball is.

Could be coming in as a FB. Either way nice get by Bohl and staff. I also like how on special teams he's always looking to blow someone up.

Pretty sure he was recruited to play fullback. The staff has been actively looking for a fullback with preferred walk-on offers and have held a scholarship to give to the right guy that can play fullback.

The staff did mention on numerous occasions that they're holding a scholarship for a linebacker as well. Who knows where he's going to end up?

He is too short for their LB standards.

6'1 230lbs, a little on the light side for a FB, but that's just me being nitpicky. I do like what I see though. As a linebacker, he seems to have a nose for the ball carrier and looks solid while tackling. For a fullback, didn't see many blocking plays, but as a ball carrier, he's a good power runner that's not afraid to run through defenders. Not the fastest guy, but he makes up for it with good vision.

When signing day rolled around, Hotchkins had FCS options in Montana, Idaho, Northern Colorado and Portland State but decided the dream of playing FBS football was to great to pass up. He had made a verbal commitment to Montana originally back in October but decided to open back up his recruitment the closer he got to signing day. So his plans turned to signing with a Juco, if no FBS offer came through, namely between offers from Iowa Western, Blinn (Tex.) and Georgia Military. Luckily for Hotchkins, this is when Wyoming came into the picture late. After an offer, he immediately committed and signed with the Cowboys.

Interesting.

They sure put a chip on his shoulder - which is nice for us!

Oh, and for you "size" people out there - Bryan Hendricks was 6'1" (maybe if he stretched) and 228 (soaking wet) as a senior at UW...and was one of the best we have had in a while.

6'1" is too short for LB??? Uh...there was this guy once who was 6'1", 240, his name was Ray Lewis, I think he did alright at LB.

I agree, the short tall thing isn't that big of a deal for a linebacker. However, if DC has proven anything to Wyoming fans, the strength/weight thing really does matter at linebacker.

Yeah, height isn't that big of a deal. Tackling and getting to the ball carrier is. From the looks of it, he does that pretty well.

A blurb on the new guy from a hometown newspaper

Wait so we won another recruit who had a bunch of FCS offers?
Awesome.
Good to see we are still getting recruits just because of the "FBS" title.

He did have an offer from Idaho. i consider them a Quasi FCS team though. On another note I saw he measured in at 5'11" at the buffs camp. Big discrepancy from the 6'1" he was Listed at some sights. I cant believe what I read on these recruiting sites anymore. guys that run a 4.4 that actually run a 4.8

Recruiting sites are turning into what dating sites have become...

Everyone is a 6'2, 225 pound stud.

Lol ..Thats funny BeaverPoke, but its also so true. I remember this one kid back in HS listed himself as a 5'11" 230 lb line backer. He had pretty good film and had over a 100 tackles. In reality the guy was 5'7" 200lb. A Div 1 scout came out to see him during practice. He asked the head coach " im hear to check out #51" coach pointed him out on the field. The recruiters jaw dropped, he turned around and as he walked of the field he shouted to our Coach " get your shit straight and stop wasting my time". Needless to say that university never set foot on that campus again until our HS hired a new coach.
