According to some Wyo players tweets..

Don't think for a second we aren't selling the fact that Duval was a Husker through many of the glory years. Bush's quote is proof. Anyone that worked under Boyd Epley for a extented period of time will have a high level of hype and cred to their resume. It is a highly proven program that has great results.

Wow this thread got derailed. Let me see if I can get it back on track... The strength and conditioning phase of the year began in earnest yesterday. Duvall is different in that he has a different approach. When DC was here he wants lean and fast to facilitate his spread offensive style. Coach Bohl wants big and strong therefore you have to have a different approach to how you train the players. The lifting sets have returned to three sets of ten and the workouts have been split into a strength and a conditioning phase. Yesterday the conditioning phase of the workout ie. the tweets you probably saw, was brutal. Partly because of the intensity but more likely because it was the first one out of the gate. Players are being trained to develop into big strong athletes as opposed to strong/fast athletes. It is simply a different philosophy which is new for most all of the player who were recruited under DC's system. They will adapt.

Thank you for getting the thread back on track. The differences between what Christensen and Bohl want is significant, but one point that you made I have a question about. You said that Christensen wanted the players to be: Strong/Fast, while Bohl wants them to be: Big and Strong. I remember listening to the S&C guy at NDSU who talked about their program and how one of the things that they do is to develop quickness with some of their training. I would imagine that Bohl does not want to sacrifice speed or quickness, but does want the guys to be bigger so that they can use their strength and bulk/weight to achieve the type of game that he wants. Do you think that the type of training now does anything to sacrifice quickness or speed, and is there a part of Duval's training that will address speed and quickness? I remember under Christensen that he wanted his OL to be lighter so that they could be quicker and more mobile. Some of the OL had to lose weight under Christensen. It appears from what Bohl had at NDSU he likes his OL to be big. How do you see Duval addressing the issue of strength and bulk vs. speed and quickness? Thanks.

First off there is a difference between fast .....and quick. I would say that under Bohl's system he will not sacrifice "Quickness" However because the players will be carrying more weight they are definitely going to be slower. I bet most all the 40 times will get slower. But strength will go through the roof!

folks on http://www.bisonville.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; are having a field day with that one......I hate to even mention this as I live in the area but.................who the fuck do these people think they are? Bashing WYO etc..how our fan base is "ignorant"..strange how they forget they were playing dII not very long ago and that Fargo isn't exactly a metro area.....ugh sorry to even mention it but I suppose..... :twocents:

Yeah, those guys are fukcing stupid. They win three j.c. national championships and suddenly they think they're the world's foremost football experts.

Yippee. You dominate the FCS. Who gives a shit?

They act like our fans are saying Bohl and our S/C coach is going to train our guys to be slower.

They act like our coaches are never in demand. Someone needs to tell them about Joe Tiller, Bob Devaney, Fritz Shurmer, Paul Roach, Pat Dye, Phil Dickens, Bowden Wyatt, Lloyd Eaton, and Dennis Erickson.

Maybe one of their posters will do us a favor and let us know when they paint Sugar Bowl or Fiesta Bowl on the inside of their cracker jack arena. In addition, it would be nice if they would send us a picture of a national championship trophy playing against teams in the top division of sports since we have one with a basketball on top of it(worlds best, not division two midgets with learning disabilities best).

Until then, maybe they can just shut the fuck up about their superiority in the triple AAA j.v. league of college football.

Yes, let the hatred of the University of Agriculture and Applied Science course through your veins!

Anyway, wasn't this thread about how tough the off season workouts are under Bohl. I think that's a good thing. As much as I don't like the fans of the Fargo school, I have to admire Bohl and can't wait for his system to take root in Laramie.

My undergrad school, and where I am from, is the University of North Dakota. Seven time NCAA D-I hockey champs. Highest level of college hockey. We have what is called the nicest hockey arena in the world. I think it is... Look it up. The Ralph Engelstad Arena. 130 million or so. It's a palace. Believe it or not, we do remind the folks in Fargo of these facts from time to time...

Believe me, I know obnoxious!

But, I'm also a Pokes fan. So, I'm hoping that the players take Bohl's instruction to heart. It WILL pay off.

Fargo and NDSU are just fine Top party town In the USA! 200,000 pop real soon with growth
, DON'T get all Bent outta shape over some posters....c'mon BJC ! obviously there will continue to be jealous of bohl leaving. I'm not into that, I wish NDSU would jump to FBS I know we'd easily make bowl runs. But per the conversation, you Wyoming fans should be excited to carry on the toughness that Bohl had at NDSU.

They've obviously never visited Laramie. I like Fargo btw, and loved the game I went to at "The Ralph".

Did you know that "The Ralph" was, and still might be, the #1 tourist attraction in the state of North Dakota.

Just sayin'.

That either indicates that it is a great sports venue, which it is easily the best in North Dakota. Or, there just isn't much else to see in Nodak. One of the the two! ;)

LOL, top party town in the USA. I'll call New Orleans, and tell them to give up on the whole Mardi Gras thing.
