Absolutely Embarrassed

I went from being extremely proud of the Pokes in their loss to UNLV to complete embarrassment tonight. These players should be ashamed of themselves. This game has very nearly made me physically ill.

Probably the worst performance I've from a cowboys team since the shroyer era. Absolutely unacceptable

I'm guessing none of them wanted to go to Texas to play the game. Not even at the AA. They just wanted a break. They wanted their Spring Break.

I think maybe that "just wait until next year" has become the standard that the Athletic Department has come to accept. Frankly I would much rather have an AD who is concerned about building competitive programs than building pretty facilities. Do fans come because of facilities or because of programs?

Ummm, we just hired a pretty good looking (on paper) head football coach. And, in the case of basketball, I can't wait until next year. Why? Because we have seen improvement in each of Shyatt's 3 years. If it wasn't for some unforeseen unfortunately circumstances, we wouldn't be complaining about how bad we looked last night. We'd be looking forward to seeing the Pokes play today and/or tomorrow in the tourney.

I see nothing but thing things going forward.

+1.

If Derek Cooke and Luke Martinez don't get into that fight at the Buck, and Larry Nance doesn't go down with the torn ACL, we might be sitting at back to back Tourney appearances, or at least 2 NIT appearances.

But then again...if Brett Smith doesn't get hurt against Toledo, we beat AFA, Cal Poly, and Nevada, then likely have enough positive momentum in terms of recruits, toughness, etc. that Wyo also wins 1 more game last football season then we are sitting in 4 bowl games in the last 5 years with DC, at the very least 3 bowls in 5 seasons, and DC is still our coach, we are close to turning the corner, or already have.

Shit happens.
Bad luck?
Bad administration?
Bad coaching?
A combo of everything?
What ever it is, it didn't happen.

Call them what you want, but they can all be called excuses. And we all know what excuses are like...

And you missed my entire point, just to tell me what my point was.

i agree it was totally sad, I really became disappointed with the way Riley has been non existent since Larry's injury, he just runs around and doesn't try to use those picks to get open or drive to hole like he used to....DC really needs to put work in over the summer, learn how to shoot free throws and rebound better to help us in the future!!! Josh is Josh!!! Trey Washington really needs to understand that being a stud in High School doesn't matter at this level!!!!
Sellers and Halderson if they stay, really need to work on their game as a whole...the big question is does Hank stay or is he let go.....and of course the knee saga with Larry.....time to win more games in conference next year

Cooke has been working on his free throw shooting for 2 years now.....enough said.

Agree about Washington. But I am going to say what many of us are quietly thinking, I hope that Sellers graduates and goes on and Haldorson transfers. Not to be too mean, but neither are D1, MWC caliber players.

CU lost Dinwiddie and still made it to the NCAA's and we lose Nance and go 1-6 afterwards.

Right now IMO we have two top flight MWC players and that is Nance and Adams, after that the drop-off is dramatic. I think in most programs, Grabau and Cooke would be bench players but at Wyoming they are required to be front line players. I am just hoping and praying that Herndon turns into something special as well as Barnes, and Lieberman is everything that he is cracked up to be.

As amazing of an X's and O's coach that Shyatt is, he has been remarkably unsuccessful on the recruiting front. I am really, and I do mean really surprised at the recruiting mistakes that this staff has made especially with the high powered assistants that Shyatt has. Things need to be improved in this area and in a hurry.

Did you watch yesterday? CU never made it to the NCAA's, just their name did.

Yes, I saw the game but they lost Dinwiddie early in the season and still made it to the NCAA's, which is a hell of a lot better than we did. Trying to hang an argument on one game while ignoring the rest of the long season holds about as much water as my 94 year old dad.

Come on Harlow your better than that

Haha, don't read too much into it. There's no argument here, just making fun of CU is all I'm doing.

I don't even know who Dinwiddie is

No argument here either. Not trying to brown nose, but I like your posts and I have absolutely no problem with making fun of CU. That was an embarrassing performance or lack there of by CU. Dinwiddie (6-6, 200, Jr., Guard) was supposedly CU's top guy, i.e. - possibly going into the NBA early, etc., etc. He blew a knee early in the season.

This is the key to why they recovered. If we had lost Nance during OOC play we may have been able to recover. The team had gelled around him, and losing him late hurt more than losing him early would have. It would have been bad either way, but I believe that the staff would have been able to retool the team more easily if the injury had happened early.

It also helps to have more depth which CU has, that is the real key. I think that is wishful thinking that we would have been able to recover if Nance has been injured earlier with all due respect. What would Wyoming have done differently? When you don't have the depth, you just don't have it. The only thing that I think that Wyoming might have done different would have been to pull the RS on Herndon, but frankly he wouldn't have made any difference in the win column. My gut tells me, that if Nance had gone down earlier, this last season might have been one of the ugliest that we would have seen in a long time.

Yeah I didn't feel nearly as bad once I saw CU laid quite the gooseegg yesterday...ha ha

So....when is this team going to have depth? I realize it takes a few years etc.....but :tickedoff:

So do I. Looking forward to seeing how Barnes, Lieberman and Jones grow within the program. Another team that offered Barnes just took Louisville to the wire last night before going down (Manhattan). That offer goes along with LaSalle (Sweet 16-2013) and Wichita State (Final Four-2013 and #1 seed this year). Those are well-coached programs who obviously saw Jonathan's potential.

We'll see what type of impact McManamen and Herndon have early on. Coach seems to think they can "jump right in" and help. We'll see. Nance made everyone around him better when he was on the floor -- offensively and defensively. He needs to be 100% and confident if this team wants to make any real noise.
