After all the shit I gave him (facebook scholarship situation) - I have to say, that is a very classy and stand-up way to leave Wyoming and the football program. Wishing the kid nothing but the best.

Classy. Not surprised by this. Best of luck to the young man.

So now we are going to have a new holder as well as a new kicker...

So the days of our scholarship holder/walk-on kicker are no more, ha

Best of luck, Mr. Young. I appreciate your kind parting words.

Hey now, A good hold is very important! Just ask Blair Walsh ;)

Good luck to Aaron Young wherever he may end up! I would say that he may have a bright future in PR/Marketing if he decides to look for a career in those fields.

He has a video link on his Twitter page. Looks like scout team? I thought the knock on him was unathletic and couldn't run. Looks pretty good to me.

So Young posted something online that made himself look mobile and athletic...huh, imagine that.

Not sure I understand the sarcasm but I presume if someone is looking for another school, stands to reason you post a highlight film. Good for him to use whatever social media means there are in order to be seen. You gotta do your own work these days, especially since you can. It's not like high school where you have coaches helping you. Self promotion doesn't necessarily mean selfish.

It's ironic that people that post on here always seem to put the players down when they decide wyo isn't the place for them , and the reasons why they leave of have left the program are never addressed they are just danced around. But every program has its problems and kids leave because of them I guess. The problems here have been brought up I've noticed then they get swept under the o rug.

The sarcasm is because that's exactly how he got a scholarship...he's probably better at marketing himself than slinging footballs. Bohl was desperate for a QB when he came in because Thompson and Smith left...and Young, through Facebook, contacted the coaching staff and wiggled into a scholarship. If I remember correctly, he even created an account on here to talk himself up a bit...never admitted it was him, though.

For his part, Young seemed to fully embrace the team and being a Wyoming Cowboy. He tried a bit too hard at times, but the important part is that he tried.

Good luck...

Wow. So you're saying by self promotion he fooled experienced coaches like Bohl and Vigen into thinking he was a player when in fact he really wasn't and didn't deserve to be here? Did Young steal your girlfriend or something? Why are you so pissed off at this kid? Self promotion or not, the tape shows he can play. Seems odd to me. Something else must have happened, like butting heads with staff or something.

Dude, I'm not pissed at anything. I'm just stating how he got here and tried to endear himself to the team and fans. Everyone's highlight tapes look great. That's why they are highlights. I have no idea why he didn't play. Maybe he didn't grasp the playbook? Maybe he wasn't as good at practice as the other guys, who knows. I do remember that his stats in fall and spring ball were not that good. I don't think he got the same reps as the other guys, but he certainly did not make the best of the ones he got.

I wish nothing but the best for the young man. (Hence the good luck comment)

I'm your huckleberry. That is exactly what happened.

A product (primarily) of Bohly being allowed to stay at NDSU and "finish" up his job there as HC, instead of taking action on the recruiting path - in all facets immediately - when hired at Wyoming on December 8th, 2013. That extra month (he didn't arrive at Wyoming until at least 1/5/14), forced Bohly to make some quick, and bad, recruiting choices. Emphasized, SOME.
