I was only a toddler at the time, but I'm surious, how well did Wyoming stack up against Marshall Faulk while he was at SDSU? I know our overall records weren't impressive at the time, but still, for those of you old enough, what happened?

Not sure how the Pokes did, but I can guarantee you they did a hell of a lot better than Hawaii did.

He never ONCE gained 100 yards against us. No one else can claim that stat.

Except for the 100+ college teams that never played against him.

Hmmm. Reminds me a bit of Ronnie Hillman now. Great back, had over 100yds rushing in almost all the other games, but was stuffed for less than 70 against us. Granted, it's only his freshmen year, but the resemblences are pretty astounding.

Hillman had (21-44-0) against us last year. which is why I think we can beat SDSU. Three of SDSU's td's last year were from the one yard line, the only, (ONLY) way they even moved the ball on us was Vincent Brown (5-144-0) and Demarco Sampson (7-175-2)
This is why I think we beat them. Lindley (the so-called great QB) only threw 50% completions against our terrible pass defense. On top of that, he was picked off twice, he made some terrible decisions when throwing the ball. Now he has no deep threats to bomb reliably down field. Top reciever coming back who played against us TE DJ Shields (2-29-1). Their top receivers in all against us last year coming back Sandifer (1-9-0) and Escobar (1-8-0). Passing will be extremely rough this year for them. I don't think Lindley will be real great at passing shorter routes into traffic. When he did he was picked off twice by us last year. Total, honestly, I think Lindley might pass for about 190 yards against us (if that), and as a team SDSU's running was terrible against us(37-76-3). We stacked the box and played zone read on them all day and they could do little to nothing on the ground. i really think this games we hold Hillman under 100 yards, and as a team will top out at 80 yards. Yup, that's 270 total yards this next year. plus they won't be able to bomb the ball all the way down for a td or to the one yard line this year, which means we have a great shot to win this game big and even make it a statement game.
If you think about it. Take the two TD's away that Sampson scored last year (because they have no Sampson like receiver) keep at least one td through the air, possible another 2 or even 3 int's, take away at least two of the three goaline stand td's that they had against us last year (because they won't be able to get that close as often) and you have SDSU scoring no more than 17-20 points baring a couple field goal tries. Now SDSU's defense has never scared me and it showed how bad they were last year to allow our Offense to even put up 38 points on them, however, we did lose ACS, that accounts for four td's. But, I think Our new QB could beable to get 2 threw the air on this D. Also, AA had 1 td against this team, and I think he is capable of possibly getting 2 this year (he avg'd 8 yards per carry last year in that game and only had 11 carries. Imagine him doubling that this year.) in the end for us, I can see us scoring anywhere from 28 to 34 points this year.

Hello Victory, thy name is Wyoming!

I hope your right because play action destroyed us last year, and you can have a donkey running down the field as bad as our secondary bit on the play action, and score easily, you dont need studs for that. If you are right and we stack the box to stop Hilly then we are going to get burnt again with the PA.

I seem to remember a story/myth whatever that either Knapton or Schenbeck tackled Faulk for a loss then did the Heisman pose standing over him.

Really? I was young enough that I wasn't really into stats, but I do remember hating Marshall Faulk with a passion because he would tear us up.

You might be thinking of Barry Sanders. He destroyed us in 1988.

I remember that game like it was yesterday. I never carried a grudge against Barry for some reason, though. I do remember hating Marshall with a passion, though.

I feel the same way about Barry.

His stats his senior year were absolutely amazing:

He set college football season records with 2,628 yards rushing, 3,248 total yards, 234 points, 39 touchdowns, of which 37 were rushing (also a record), 5 consecutive 200 yard games, scored at least 2 touchdowns in 11 consecutive games, and 9 times he scored at least 3 touchdowns. Sanders also ran for 222 yards and scored 5 touchdowns in his three quarters of action in the Holiday Bowl - a game that was not included with his season statistics.

I was at that bowl game in San Diego and you are right, he absolutely killed us. I also remember some Oklahoma St. fans parading back and forth in front of the Wyoming fans taunting us.

11/2/1991 @ San Diego State L 22-24
11/7/1992 San Diego State W 17-6
11/27/1993 @ San Diego State W 43-38

His first year was his best year against us, I remember some of those games but not a lot those were the years I was barely getting into the sport and only cared what we did to BYU/UTAH.
