A Little Jealous

At a time when our athletics programs should be considering every revenue source possible, our neighbors to the South got the greenlight to serve full strength beer (not the 3.2 they sold previously). I still believe that beer sales in the stadium would decrease overintoxication inside. Don't have to shotgun beers or take shots before to try and maintain a buzz throughout, just have a few overpriced beers inside.

Last week I was listening to the sports radio show in Cheyenne and they had Burman on talking about the state money. The topic of beer sales came up and he said they would be most likely take a look at it in the coming years especially if we don't receive the full fundings match. Was pretty amazed to hear that from the AD. I don't think beer at the war and AA is imminent but it sounded like some in the dept are coming around to it.

Interesting. Takes something negative to happen, to get him going. Pisses me off. Should have been lobbying for beer sales at athletic events when he first took the helm...the additional income could have served the department well.

Beer sales at UWyo sporting events could bring in over $1mil a year. Why the F not?

The way I remember it he made the comment that it would be worth a couple hundered thousand in profit. Not sure hwere the numbers came from but it sounded like they have done some homework.

Here is the link to the interview. I'm not sure where the topic same up but I'm guessing toward the end.

Sure hope its in that interview or im gonna feel dumb. :)

A few hundred thousand in profit could go a long ways towards coaching salaries.

Our AD really needs to start thinking out of the box. If they lose this 8M matching grant, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

My guess could be a little off...but a revenue stream and happy fans...what is not to like?

Thanks for the link, he starts talking about it around 16:00 in.

And as a fine charitable gesture, I would volunteer, for no charge, to sample check the quality of the product throughout the game to guarantee that the fans only have best delivered to them.

And Im guessing UW could workout a deal with Coors or Budweiser where they pay for the much needed West side concession / restroom remodels.

Just more urinals would be needed

Beer is a key thing, have bracelets etc...and shut it down 5mins after halftime etc....have good controls and nothing should happen, I have always liked a bit more raucous crowd, compared to what's been there recently.

Beer would add $$ and fun as as whole, and it's it about the $$ anymore???

Anyone that's been in a bathroom stall knows there's plenty of drinking going on during the game

Off topic....but back in the day (late 80's early 90's) the student section would resemble a liquor store. There were a lot of emply 1/2 pint and pint bottle down each isle. Good times. :D

exactly, everyone is already drinking inside the stadium so you might as well profit off of it.
