Did they say why they still issue number 12?The Virginian said:A source in the UW AD told me that both Number 10 and Number 56 are not available for issue. Number 10 belonged to Ed Synakowski who drowned in a boating accident in 1970. Number 56 belonged to Dave Schutt, a linebacker in the Coach Roach era. He died in 1988 after being struck by a train just off 1st Street and Ivinson in Laramie.

So did a little bit of digging. I remember the team honoring Ruben as a different player each week wore the #12 jersey. The year following DC asked puletasi who was Rubens roommate and best friend on the team if he wanted to wear Rubens number for the remainder of his career. Sonny took the offer and switched his number to 12.The Virginian said:poke_addict said:Did they say why they still issue number 12?The Virginian said:A source in the UW AD told me that both Number 10 and Number 56 are not available for issue. I didn't ask about Number 12 specifically. I just asked about the numbers that they aren't issuing. However, you make a valid point.
