Wyoming got the 12 seed in the West Regional. We ended up losing in the Sweet 16 vs. UNLV after beating 5th seeded Virginia and 4th seeded UCLA.

I don't believe that was the case. Jan was fine with Laramie, and had her social circles. I always understood it was for health reasons first and foremost (altitude oxygen related).
 
Whatever the case, I can’t see Brandenburg trying to outrun Loyola Marymount in the first game of the NCAA tournament like Dees did. LMU was averaging about 100 points a game all season. Brandenburg’s slow down offense would have driven them crazy.

Plus LMU wanted to win that game for Hank Gathers, the guy who died during a WCC Tournament game thast year I believe.

I think Gathers was on the team that beat Wyoming. I believe he passed away a year or two later. Tragic, nonetheless.
