A big announcement coming.

Really would have liked some real fucking news! This is bullsit! :bs: TV talks, bowl obligations, something that would hold its weight. :brick: Big announcement? What a joke! :tickedoff:

Gagliardi from the WY Trib Eagle posted some thoughts: http://wyomingcowboysblog.com/2011/06/07/reaction-to-the-new-mwc-logo/

The colors are the worst part. When I see that purple, I'm reminded of TCU. Is there any way that they could have at least chosen colors that are NOT part of a MWC (oops! Sorry no C anymore) team? (or of a team that will not soon be in the MW).

The purple has been part of the logo since the MWC started, 5 years BEFORE TCU joined.

With the wordmark next to it the logo is starting to grow on me. I think it will look good when done in the individual school colors (see my sig).

Is it just me or did they go to the new logo and get rid of the mountains b/c of all the schools that don't have mountains near them. SDSU, UNLV, UNR, Hawaii, Fresno...

It seemed like they emphasized the equality of the logo between Mountain & West... I am just wondering if the "West" schools didn't like the logo with a Mountain?

Geographically speaking, isn't UNR right next to the Sierra Nevadas, a large mountain range?

WYO1016, that's a pretty sweet graphic in your sig!

True. But now the purple is dominant. Sticks out way more than in the original and is out-of-context, as it were, since the original had the "purple mountains majesties" as a theme.

Yep. Sierras are right outside of Reno. Also, there is a mountain range outside of San Diego, and there are mountains in Hawaii, they just don't have any snow on them. Kind of weird, but there you go.

Actually Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii has snow pretty much all year around. The native Hawaiians even had a Goddess of snow in their mythology.

There's TWO mountain ranges on Oahu.

Only been to Ooahu, and that was in 2005.

I only been to Oahu back in 1989 (during our glory days under Paul Roach) but I know there's more to Hawaii than just Honolulu and Oahu.

True, but you don't hear much else besides them and Pear Harbor in Pearl City.
