710 yards, 8 TDs.

After watching both teams play today.....I think USU should be favored by 24+ points next week. Their defense looks absolutely terrifying.....and while Garretson isn't Keeton, Wyoming has given up 203 points in its last 4 games. Smith gives the team hope, but I'm expecting a beat down. Today's game was absolutely fantastic. One fans will remember.....but it was against a terrible Hawaii team.
Still, to put up those kinds of numbers is astonishing period.

I know....but its also been less than 1 week since Boise held the Pokes to less than 300 total yards and only 7 points. If the AFA game taught us one thing, its that offensive outbursts against awful teams doesn't equal the same against good teams.

Holy shit Brett Smith!
498 pass yards, 7 TDs.
212 rush yards, 1 TD.

Brett officially passed Casey Bramlet in total yards today, and did it in a BIG way.
My god those stats are absolutely insane!

Against an 0-11 team.

Not so much if we wish to remain just a little bit objective.

Yep you're right, against a team that every QB has put up those type of numbers, including Carr, and Fales right?

Dude at a certain point you just have got to give the guy credit.
Yes it was against Hawaii, and they are awful, but even they don't give up those type of numbers.

That and Brett just set the record for most yards in a game this season in the NCAA.

Not arguing there. But better for the kids playing to end the home season on a winning note (despite it being Hawaii) than to lose to an otherwise winless team.

But we REALLY need a guy who can coach and/or recruit o-linemen. Against bad defenses, Smith and whoever is in the backfield are almost always under pressure. Against good defenses, Smith and company don't even have time to read the defense.

And defense, well, we need a guy that can get them to BECOME a defense.

Whose HC is senile!

I was just looking through the stats - we put up just shy of 800 yards of offense and gave up 624 yards of defense.Regardless, both teams must be very tired. I believe that is a season high on both sides of the ball though.

Fuck man just go kill yourself already. I just read through 10 pages of the most cuntish talk from you and those other dip shits I can't remember the names of and it makes me sick. You aren't even a real Cowboy fan. We don't want you as a fan. Your show is less entertaining than a Tijuana donkey show.

Monster individual stats from Brett. No doubt about it. Fun to watch and fun to get the victory! Carr didn't need those stats vs. Hawaii. He had his team up 42 - 3 and then they coasted (stumbled?) to the victory. The thing is, Carr can do this against winning teams. Brett had 498 passing yards vs Hawaii, Carr had 460 vs. Boise State. At the beginning of the year I would have taken Brett over any MWC QB. Right now, even after Saturday's game, I give the nod to Carr.

Give Brett Fresno's offensive line and wide receivers and then we will see if Brett stacks up against Carr.

There are so many variables, which is why I don't think someone can point out one common opponent (Hawaii) and say x had better numbers than y, when you can just as easily pick out another common opponent (Bosie) to punch a hole in the argument, when y did better than x. Would Brett have better numbers if he was playing for Alabama? Maybe, but then again, he' be up against SEC defenses, not MWC defenses most of the time. it can go on and on. At the end of the day, do you want a QB that puts up pretty good numbers regardless of who he's facing, or one that absolutely crushes bad teams, but struggles vs. better teams? Having said that, yes, I believe Brett playing for FSU, his numbers vs. Boise would have been better. We'll see what the multi-billion dollar industry known as the NFL feels about this. For QBs they try and look past where the QB is playing, what league, were his results due to being on a shit team, or a powerful team, etc.

Brett and company would most likely have better numbers if we had an actual o-line that didn't get pushed around when the defense rushed only 3 to 4 guys. And if the defense blitzed, 90% chance of getting into the backfield and hitting the guy with the ball.

You know, I wouldn't mind TOO much about getting into offensive shootouts if our o-line wasn't getting pushed around on nearly every down. I look at other o-lines, even in the MWC, and short of air force (who I think is using their practice squad as starters at most positions now), most o-lines are NOT getting shoved aorund on nearly every play and show good push and fight on nearly every down. Ours is the exact opposite. On occassion we can get something that looks like good blocking, but otherwise, its our most glaring weakness on our offense. I'm not asking for 4 and 5 star linemen across the board, I just want a solid unit that can allow the rest of the offense to put up points and yards.

Though, our 1 commit, the o-linemen from Idaho, looks like he does have the right mentality. Guy freakin attacks defenders.

If Smith can stay hot and the Pokes pull off a shocker in Logan next weekend (unlikely, buy you never know), my preseason prediction of a Wyoming-Washington State New Mexico Bowl just might happen.
would have been more fun in vegas

You sure 710 total yards is the correct number? I see 3 different totals at 3 different sites.

ESPN: 498 (passing) + 212 (rushing) = 710 total yards
CBS: 498 (passing) + 142 (rushing) = 640 total yards
Yahoo: 521 (passing) + 144 (rushing) = 665 total yards

gowyo.com is using the cbs stats

Yeah everyone is now, ESPN changed their stats on him.

Here's the thing. I don't give a shit. Put me down all you want with the over thought wording so you feel better about yourself but at the end of the day you are nothing more than a crotchety old bastard who wouldn't be satisfied if we had 10 win seasons every year. You act as though you are better than everyone and know more than all because of your years but in truth it just makes you look like a raging asshole. Putting down Beaverpoke in every thread must make you feel like such a big man. He is a sunshine pumper but I damn sure would rather read his posts than your never ending pessimism and disdain.

Thanks Aaron.

I personally would rather talk about Wyo winning bowls, and NCAA Tourney games, and MWC titles than talking about how bad we suck.

This is not a personal attack. Substitution of profanity for wit is lazy and childish.

Making exaggerated characterizations of someone in order to establish grounds for ad hominem attacks add very little to any issue based discussion.

I enjoy Beaver's posts when he isnt spewing profanity at those who wont share one of his many a facile fantasies.

As to my failure to support this coach, this AD, or the direction of this program. I believe the results speak more profoundly than I can. The real issue is if you can see them..or if you care

I in no way support the coach or the AD. Hell I don't support the Board or many of the CJC members. But what I can not stand behind is not showing my support for the kids who go out there and give it everything they have. I know they haven't been very good but I think it's coaching and not a lack of try by the boys. No one was more of a proponent for Heath getting canned but I always supported the players. :thumb:
