Two more reasons:

Every team that has won the New Mexico Bowl Chili cookoff has lost the game. Fresno won the chili cookoff this year.

Kenny Browder rapped his ass off during the talent portion of the luncheon yesterday. According to the WTE, Browder's rap began, "Hey, little puppy go fetch a bone...." and went on from there. According to Gagliardi both teams were cheering and applauding in spite of the subtle smack talk.

Sorry. I read it but I wasn't impressed. Couldn't post a response there as I couldn't quite figure out your system. But on a point by point basis, I offer the following...

1. Crowd -- Not much of a factor -- Fresno is used to playing road games against tough opponents and won't be intimidated by the crowd.

2. Turnovers -- Valid factor over the course of the season -- but it may or may not play out in every single game during the season, including this one.

3. Desire -- You're confusing Fresno's players with Fresno's fans. We fans wish we had a higher ranked opponent. The players? Who knows?

4. Familiarity -- Fresno played a game in Albuquerque last year so we aren't as unfamiliar as you might like. Besides, we've been unfamiliar with a lot of stadiums that we've won in.

5. Pokes don't give up -- No, you don't give up -- and you're to be admired for that. But neither do we -- our last two games were come from behind victories and there might have been others. That said, it sure looks like you gave up against BYU -- and that we gave up against Nevada. But I'm not sure that either team has an advantage here.

6. Coach Christensen is a winner -- And Coach Hill is a loser? There are only a few teams in the west that have more wins in the past decade than Fresno State -- Boise, Utah, USC and Oregon are it, as I recall. Write back when Christenson hits the 100 win mark like Hill has.

7. History -- That's a totally meaningless stat. It never ceases to amaze me that people use unrelated stats like records ATS or games from past years to justify a position. Besides, they are selective -- both sides can offer such stats. For example, the WAC is 9-1 ATS against the MWC this season.

And as for the thought that Fresno thought that they were better than Colorado State last year, hogwash. Fresno shouldn't have even gone to a bowl game last season. By season's end, we were traveling only 53 players -- more than 40% of the team was out injured. Healthy, we might have felt that way, but not as injured as we were. No way in hell...

So how can it be a reason that you will win if it doesn't give you a competitive advantage? In order for it to give you a competitive advantage, Christensen has to be more of a "winner" than Hill; you have to draw a comparison (even if unstated) between them.

Would Christensen being a "winner" be a reason you will win if Fresno State was coached by Vince Lombardi -- were he still alive and in his prime?

As much as I want the Pokes to win, there is only one reason that Fresno State will win: They simply appear to be a better team than Wyoming.

On paper.

As much as I think we will win by 20-30, we have shown ourselves very capable of losing games on the field that we would have won on paper. Fortunately, this team hasn't done that really but over the years, Hill's teams have made life as a Bulldog fan very frustrating. Whoop up on an AQ program on the road and then lose or almost lose to a WAC bottom feeder.

That's one reason that I promise you that I will not come back to this board if we win big and say, "I told you so"; I'm hoping that if you win, you will go easy on me as well -- at least on this board.

Deal...on this board. I will try to be civil on the MWC board as well, but when the smack starts to fly it tends to rile me up a bit.

If John Fletcher's fully recovered from his knee problems, he'll chase down and eat both the Fresno QB and halfback(s). After that, I don't think they will put up much of a fight.

Now you know the real reason that Fresno's fans are not going to the game. We're afraid John Fletcher will chase us down and eat us.

That and these piss bombs we keep hearing about from your conference mates.

I know they don't. I find the piss bomb thing kind of funny -- presumably the same sort of urban legend as our supposed screwdriver throwing incident with Hawai'i.

Unless you care to admit to it, it's a non-issue for me.

At least those are probably not true, unlike CU's student section pelting players with batteries and getting the whole section ejected.
