7-2 with 4 games left.....this team's place in history

Only 10 times has Wyoming won 9 or more games in a season
Only 7 times has Wyoming won 10 or more games in a season
Only 1 time has Wyoming won 11 games in a season.

With three regular season and one bowl game left, all of these outcomes are still on the table and very much in reach for this team. One more win would also match the program's biggest single-season jump, tying the 1976 team's improvement to 8-4 after a 2-9 campaign.

I said 4-8 before the season, which seemed like a pretty common prediction. Now I'm saying a 9 win regular season. 10 is there, especially with SUDS at home.

WRONG! It was not 1974! It was 1976!!!!

1975: 2-9 and 1-6 in WAC Play. Only wins that year: UTEP in Laramie after starting 0-5 and @ Air Force in the season finale. The OOC that year....Idaho State (yeah we DID lose to Idaho STATE), @ Colorado, @ Utah State, and @ AFA (they joined the WAC in 1980).

1976: 8-4 and 6-1 and a share of the WAC Title with the Evil Empire (we had the tiebreaker)
We beat everyone except @ Michigan State, @ Fort Fart, @ AFA in the season finale. We got slaughtered by Oklahoma, 41-7, in the Fiesta Bowl that year! Our OOC that year: South Dakota, @ Michigan State, Utah State, and @ AFA.

Our coach for both seasons....Fred Akers.

Never try to outdo the historian (me)

Do you go out of your way to look like a total asshole, or does it just come naturally?

Only when someone gets their facts wrong. Had he said 1976 I would be O.K. with it.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't take the condescending tone seriously, especially with the way that post finished.

Thanks. You should see me when I read a media guide online and I see an obvious mistake especially involving Wyoming.... I'm usually screaming at my computer monitor like a banshee cussing the whole time when I see a mistake.

I'm very passionate about history so....

Dangit, I just put down the wrong number. I was looking at 1975, and typed the previous year rather than the next one. I know it was '76 because I remember thinking it was the 40-year anniversary.

In hindsight, I figured that's what probably happened. Sorry but I do get cranky when someone posts the wrong facts.

Probably why I'm glad I'm not a political analyst. LOL I'd be pissed 24/7 during election years with all the lying candidates do.

We were Utah State Champions! (Beat Utah, Utah State and BYU that year)

Likewise, though most of what I have learned has been on my own, and sports history is something I haven't paid much attention to.

I love reading about the American Founding Fathers, though - and that includes the ones newer American school curriculum is starting to ignore (Paine and Jefferson) for some reason.

I'm big on the revolution and more importantly the U.S. Constitution. We all need to read that once in a while.

I also love reading any history regarding Wyoming before and after statehood. Personally, July 10 (Wyoming Day) should be made into a federal holiday plus it'll drive the BYU maggots crazy. :D
