500 grand for a QB

Wow, that’s insane. Seems to be more justification for not donating to NIL if that’s how money is being allocated and spent. $400K to a tight end? How are you not better off giving $50K to 8 different players?

He finished his Wyoming career with a total of 80 receptions, 1023 yards and 7 TDs over 4 years…Dude certainly has NFL 6th round/UDFA athletic potential but he will likely never make $400K again anywhere.
An underused often injured TE at that

There's only 3 ways forward; collective bargaining, congressional intervention, or status quo.

The student analogies are inaccurate. Here's a better one: engineering student in lab under his/her own unique thought develops unique technology that generates millions. The University said yes it was your intellectual idea and execution but we already gave you a full ride scholarship so that's all you get. You get none of the patent or subsequent revenue. Of course that's not how it would work.

I just read where Pavia was offered $4.5 Million to transfer before last season by an SEC competitor. I seriously doubt Wyoming can put together enough money to be competitive in the NIL market.

I was looking at the On3 transfer site on the desktop page and numerous “expected” transfers are listed with projected NIL amounts. Seems like there are improvements listed at the QB spot nowhere near the $500k level.

Of course, Burman would probably pay over $200,000 for a Kia Soul vinyl edition if it came with an AM radio and fancy plastic rim covers.

With Burman and Sawvel calling the shots, we can rest assured that they are offering Svoboda $400K to return for his extra ‘Pavia JUCO rule’ year and to shore up the tight end position.

I read an article yesterday on one of the big sports sites, can’t remember which one or which players it was about… but it said the player had “agreed” to the NIL money like it was a pro contract. I just had to laugh about it.

That is where we are at now with this stuff. It’s a semi pro league now.
