As always opinions, thoughts, etc. are appreciated.

Let the discussion Begin

Go Pokes!

Boise State is a perfect opponent for the young Cowboys to try to prove to everyone that they belong in the discussion of MWC title contenders.

If Wyoming wins this game there is no one left standing in their way between now and the Mountain West championship. If the Pokes win out, but lose to SDSU later the season, Wyoming will still own the tie breaker over Boise and will be playing for a championship. Important game for post season play.

The same can be said about Boise if we win :D

1. Brian Hill was a man amongst boys last week.

Hill almost single handily won last week’s football team for the Cowboys. From the very beginning he was nearly unstoppable. By the end of the night Hill had over 300 yards of total loss, 3 touchdowns, and most importantly a win. Hill’s big game put him number 2 in the country in yards rushing and yards rushing per game. Hill is a special talent, no question and the Cowboys may need another memorable performance again this week in order to pull off the upset this week.

No doubt that Boise will be ready for Brian on Saturday. The Broncos have done a good job of containing him in the past. I'm seriously hoping that Wyoming's offense will be much more balanced this week with play action, rollouts, etc., to keep the Donks off balance. Brian may be a special talent, but he needs room to run. His physicality in the open field is a sight to behold.

Defensively, WYO needs much better pressure on Rypien than they showed last week. Having Chase back will help. Here's hoping the DBs are up to the challenge. Boise, as much as anyone, likes to throw deep. Great pressure up front NEEDED!

The DL needs to provide a pass rush and that should lead to some relief for the secondary. If it is like last week Rypien could throw for 450 yards very easily.

Offensively, Josh Allen needs to continue to make big plays with his feet and he can't miss open throws like he did against Air Force

Don't forget about finding a way to stop Mcnichols as well, he is the reason so much opens up in the passing game. You guys have the 3rd best rush defense in the conference though so I think you should be able to slow it down a bit but in my opinion Mcnichols has been our MVP this year.

Our run defense has been solid all year, but you are right stopping the run is important. The pass defense hasn't been nearly as good as our run D so that is why it is a bigger key to an upset

If Sperbeck doesn't suit up or isn't 100% so that should help you guys.

Is there even any indication Sperbeck won't play? Or is this all speculation?

This is complete speculation on my part, he got beat up pretty badly in the BYU game and could barely finish, hes a tough kid i'm guessing he'll go BUT I don't think he will be 100%.

I don't know why you guys still bother to schedule them. Between the tripping and the nut punching, your bound to take a bruising.

I agree such a dirty program, I think it'd be hilarious if everyone didn't schedule them and they had to settle for FCS games week in and week out. Leave it to BYU to have an elitist mentality, Utah got into the PAC 12 so we are to good to play in the mtn west...years later, wait no one still wants us.

Give the BYU player a break, he's probably 26 years old and that's the first time he ever touched another person's crotch. This video is basically seeing this guy lose his virginity.

If wind really is sustained into game time, the better ground game will win. Likely, and unfortunately, wind might die down after dark.

Clock control and offensive efficiency will be critical because I don't think the defense can keep BSU offense from scoring.

The problem IS: Certain MWC schools continue to schedule BYU (ahem). Next year, six of Provo's last nine games are against MWC teams. Although some/most of the original members of the MWC refuse to schedule BYU since they left the conference, certain MWC schools let Provo off the hook. Let BYU flail in the wind -- especially during the 2nd half of each season!

Jay Drew (SL Trib) wrote in a 10/22/2016 column that "It has generally been assumed that the Mountain West would welcome BYU back, but that notion isn't a slam dunk." (*Laughing out loud*)

If BYU scribes ever bring up a possible return to the MWC in one of their columns, just read the comments section. A guy named Naval_Vet does a great job articulating why the odds are slim. He can be brutal and it's a beautiful thing to behold.

Honestly we schedule those guys because we know it will sell out the stadium when we play them at home. Our large population of Magic Planet Seekers generally means lots of interest in the game.
