Agreed. This makes a ton of sense; so much so that I thought they wouldn't pass it. There's already a lawsuit being filed on behalf of some players that want to keep playing, including Filip Borovicanin, MJ Collins, and Kolby King. They're sad that they can't game the system and play by the new rules.

I have friends whose kids are / were 17 their freshman year. So that would give them 7 years eligibility.

I believe the 5 for 5 eligibility clock would start upon full-time enrollment at a university or at the beginning of the academic year following their 19th birthday, whichever comes first. But, yes, missions are listed as an exception.
