3-Point Shooting

Is it just me, or have coaches and fans been talking about our lack of a true three point shooter and continually trying to sign some non-player that can shoot for the past 20 years?

In the discussions following the Denver game, many have commented about how we need to bring in a shooter. In my mind, that is not a viable solution for this year's team. Nor is it going to do any good to give up on this year's team and wait until someone comes in that doesn't miss shots on the road.

Sure, it would be nice to have the guys that could make their own shots but who chose to leave rather than play for this coach in this system. When we talk about our coach, I think the question now is whether he can get the most wins possible with the players who are willing to put on the Brown & Gold--even if they do not get to have their own name printed on the back of their jerseys.

One of the keys to shooting is repetition. That is part of the reason it is easier to hit shots at home. Everything about a shot at home feels more familiar than a shot on the road.

Well, after the Idaho State game, Shyatt is going to implement some new offensive plays, according to the Boomerang. If we can get the offense rolling, we will be doing pretty good, because our defense is for real (except for the 3 pointers the other night...).

This Wyoming team is already better than we have had the last couple of years. The complete rebuilding process is going to take a while and we need to be patient. There aren't too many coaching staffs with more experience and knowledge of the game with how the entire process works than what we have on our sidelines right now. I'm thinking they will get it to gradually come together against tougher competition. I'm seeing progress with some common sense and that's what I care about.

Huh? Shyatt had offensive plays? Does that mean the players are going to have to actually move around? Won't they get tired?

One word : Dumbass

Did you watch the Denver game? If you did you must not have seen the same game I did.

Yes I did watch it. I also watched 3 other games besides the Denver game and in every other game they were moving on offense. They didn't move as well during the Denver game but you make it sound like you don't think Shyatt can coach and come across very condescending. I guess you can think what you want but I think you're clueless.

A lot of what happened in Denver game is a tribute to Denver and the defense that experienced team plays. Look at its schedule. Look at its record. It is strong favorite to win its conference. Hell, in the past Cowboys couldn't beat mediocre Denver teams in Denver. This one got to the final minutes and then the DU 3-point game was given life. Anyone watching this year's team who doesn't see a marked improvement from the past has his back to the court.

I'll agree that this team is much better than any under Shroyer, due to the coaching. But I still did not see the ball movement against Denver that would be necessary against a strong opponent. I did not see much of what could really be called "plays", compared to what DU had. Some others on this forum agree. Those that do not counter by name calling.

I watched CU and DU games and I saw more offensive motion and hustle than I have seen in 5+ years. DU was just a good defensive team and we were ice cold from outside. Shyatt's doing great with what he has. 11-2 has me excited. I think we'll go .500+ in conference and make some noise on out way to the NIT.
