25--BYU

will we ever be as sucessfull as those schools on a consistant basis. probably not but God Damn it would be nice to a least be in the hunt.

I think it depends a lot on building a foundation...lets face it Utah wasn't a big time program in the 80's...In fact BYU and Wyoming were two of the better programs in the mid 80's- mid 90's. Utah is now on top because Meyer (whom I still hate with a passion) established a system that works, which Whittinham has continued. Its much easier to recruit when your winning. TCU wasn't a model of consistency before Patterson took over. BYU is the outlier because of the Mormon pipeline. My point is if we get a coach that can establish a winning tradition, and get some recruits coming here, our facilities are now top notch. Maybe we won't be in the top 25 year in and year out, but it wasn't so long ago that we were in the top 25 no less than every third year or so. Lets hope DC is the right guy...its time that Wyoming takes that jump from medicore in the MWC to a true contender!

Don't forget - UU has an airport that flies directly to SLC ---- Its a big deal

but our AD seems to think that shoe brands are the key .....LMAO!

While I do think there is some validity to your point, I don't think its the biggest factor.

UGA is in Athens - about 1.5 hours away from the Atlanta Airport
Oregon State is in Corvallis - about 1.5 hours away from the Portland Airport
Oklahoma State in Stillwater - about 1.25 hours away from the Oklahoma City Airport

Just 3 quick example's. Plus I know it adds a stop, but you can fly in and out of Laramie Regional if you want, and now that the University charters flights, frontier flies a plane up here and picks up the team for away games.

Utah has done a nice job building a winning tradition, now it's up to the rest of the conference to keep up. Not sure if the MWC/WAC/Sky Line has ever had a team finish this high (BYU during the national title year, maybe?), so it's great for the conference.. and great for TCU to get some love. Two teams in the top 10. That's as good as the Pac10, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, and better than the ACC and Big East. Boise State finished just outside at 11. Good year for the mid-majors. This is all off of the AP poll, of course.
