2nd favorite teams.

Well, with a horrible 1-6 season going on, I am wondering how everyones second favorite teams are doing?
its a change of scenery from the constant bitching about wyo
and if you dont have a second favorite team, thats not what i was asking for

My team. Oregon State, doing GREAT 6-0 #8 in BCS (for another hour til the new BCS comes out)

It was Air Force, but after seeing how much of a crack job Calhoun is, Notre Dame got bumped up from 3rd. Plus Notre Dame is having quite the season (plus they beat BYWhoo). And their defense is playing smashmouth too. Followed by UNM (who, recruiting wise, is in a similar situation) and ASU.
 
My 2nd team, Montana, is 3-5 and getting pounded on a weekly basis through the air. This will be the 2nd time in 20 some years the Griz are not in the FCS playoffs. I follow the Florida Gators too.. they're doing okay..

No way they retain Delaney after this season. No reason the team should have dropped off this badly.
 
They replaced most of the defense, but even then the front 7 is one of the best in the FCS.. it's the damn secondary that's killing us. Teams are throwing at will on the secondary. Rosenbach's playcalling has been pretty bizarre at times.. seems like Montana has had a lead in nearly every game they've lost and the team can't hold it. Offense takes its foot off the gas and the defense is a sieve in crucial moments. A lot needs to change in Missoula to get this all corrected. Plenty of talent on the team..

Amazing the difference one coach can make. Hope they don't lose him, but I doubt 750K keeps him in Logan for good....
 
Started at UW, graduated from Usu. I follow the aggies closely as well. However, once in the mwc, its about the pokes. When they played last year I bought tix in the UW section.
 
Indiana blew it at Navy. Similar issues with the Hoosiers as with the Cowboys.

I am pretty happy for the Lobos. Not sure if there is a better 'feel good' story than their turnaround so far this year. Good team, good school, and great fanbase.

I personally hate the lobos in hoops.
 
Since my son and money went to Virginia Tech, I follow them fairly close. They've been having their issues as well this year. Sigh.

I remember you telling the guys on GWG about your son attending VT when the shooting happened a few years ago. Fortuately he was nowhere it 'cos he accidently slept in late so he couldn't make it to class.
 
Well, your question is too hard for me because how can I have just one 2nd favourite team? I support many teams in different ways. I'm trying to pay attention more closely to Baylor, Houston, Michigan State, North Texas, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, UTEP, UTSA, Vanderbilt, Wyoming and a little bit for some other programs.

In FCS I'm trying to keep up mostly with the teams in Texas and the Ivy League, especially Princeton.

I've wanted to watch your Oregon State team this year but haven't had the chance yet. I've been behind in keeping up with all but a couple of programs. I've been so busy.

Yeah, that's one time I didn't give him hell for missing class.

LOL If I had a son who did the same thing, I woulda been glad he was too lazxy to go to class too. :D

He graduated in 2011 with a degree in Construction Management. He's working for a construction company in Leesburg, VA. He and his wife have also made me a grandfather. I guess I'm officially an Old Fart...

I'm a OSU fan myself. More so in Baseball than football but I am glad they are doing so well this year. The Civil war should be a good game.
 
The Colorado School of Mines (D2 RMAC) is having a down year at 5-3 (due to significant injuries). Mines has been a perennial contender in the RMAC and multiple playoff berths since Bob Stitt took over in 1999. Prior to 1999, Mines had one of the worst winning percentages in all of football (all levels).

Stitt runs a very unique offense and the Orediggers are currently averaging 44 points a game this year. Stitt interviewed for the OC job at Wyoming, prior to Glenn's last year. Had Wyoming hired Stitt, I honetly think Joe Glenn would still be the Cowboys HC. If you are in Golden on a saturday, I highly suggest you watch a Mines game as I assure you that you will be highly entertained (plus beer is sold in the stadium and is only 2-3 bucks each).

I used to root for Air Force in every game (other than against UW). I don't think I will root for them again until they get rid of their clown HC.
