STORY: Wyoming's Hull welcomes man coverage challenge (WyoSports.net)

It’s the funnest thing ever because I’m a competitor,” he said. “I like to be on the island. We play our safeties hard on the run, so I know I’m out there and I accept the challenge.”

“Man coverage is not an easy task, and we’re putting a lot on (Hull’s) plate,” Richardson said. “Things we always talk about within the (cornerbacks) group is that nobody remembers your successes, they only remember your failures. We keep battling through that.

BOISE — A perfect 7-0 record hasn’t stopped Boise State coach Bryan Harsin from challenging his team heading into Saturday’s game at Wyoming.

The Broncos have won ugly at times — they had five turnovers in last week’s win at BYU — and have admittedly not yet put together a full 60-minute game.

And with Boise State needing to win out to secure a Mountain West title and a New Year’s Six bowl bid, Harsin knows the margin for error is slim.

It will be one of the biggest games to be played in the recent history of Wyoming’s War Memorial Stadium when the Wyoming Cowboys, 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Mountain West, host the Boise State Broncos, 7-0 and 3-0 in the MW, on Saturday, Oct. 29 in a game scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m., M.T. Wyoming received a vote in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll while Boise State is currently ranked 13th in both the Amway Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Media Poll.

COLUMN: UW’s defensive philosophy working, still a work in progress (WyoSports.net)

In nearly 36 years as a college football coach, including 14 as a head coach, Craig Bohl has learned a thing or two along the way.

One is keeping a level head through the good and bad times, along with dealing with the media.

But when the third-year University of Wyoming football coach was asked earlier this week about the Cowboys’ defensive secondary, and the fact his team is last in the Mountain West in passing defense at nearly 300 yards per game, Bohl got a little fired up.

Behind Enemy Lines:

BSU’s Thomas Sperbeck continues to prove doubters wrong (Idaho Statesman)

“Sperbeck, he’s the guy in the Mountain West Conference that doesn’t get near enough credit,” Utah State coach Matt Wells said. “He does everything. He throws every trick pass and catches every trick pass that somebody else wants to throw. He’s involved in everything. The guy could probably be the backup quarterback.

Don't be shocked if he doesn't suit up Saturday, he barely could finish the game at BYU Thursday.

Wyoming running back Hill to provide big test for Bronco defense (B.J. Rains)

“He’s an incredible running back,” linebacker Ben Weaver said. “He’ll hide behind some of those o-line guys and wait for just six inches, 12 inches to open up for him to slide right through, so it’s really about attacking those things and knowing where they want to go and getting there before he does.”

“Very powerful running game,” McCaskill said. “They have not one but two running backs who can really get the job done, they are both downhill runners and need to be wrapped up and gang tackled, and they have a very good and experienced offensive line. We played against a bunch of them last year.

Fox Sports: Boise State and Wyoming are 2 programs looking up

''This game has big implications not only with the Mountain West Conference but nationally,'' Wyoming coach Craig Bohl noted.

But Harsin said Wyoming is a program on the rise under Bohl, who over the last three years has brought a style of blue-collar, disciplined football that proved successful on the FCS level at North Dakota State.

''We didn't get here by chance and now it's going to be important that we continue to play well,'' Bohl said. ''But we're certainly in a different place than where we had been and it's not by happenstance.''

Conway getting more comfortable with football (WyoSports.net)

Austin Conway said he approached the summer like studying for a test.

The University of Wyoming redshirt freshman joined the football team during spring drills after he redshirted as a member of the Cowboys basketball team.

During the summer, Conway studied hard to learn UW’s playbook so he would be ready for fall camp and the upcoming season. However, the studying and learning didn’t end there.

Wyoming vs. Boise State football Q&A with Dave Southorn of the Idaho Statesman (WyoSports.net)

What are some of the key matchups in Saturday's game, and who wins and why?

I'm interested to see how Rypien handles the Wyoming secondary. Coaches here have said there's no doubt the Cowboys will try to stop the run and aren't too concerned about giving up some yardage in the pass game. Last time a defense tried that, Rypien torched New Mexico. Hill will definitely be the best back the Broncos have and will see this regular season.......
