2016 recruiting thread....

Pat Rafferty (our Coach Rafferty's oldest son, from Buffalo Junky) is the hc at Central in Riverton, there's a contact

And that is where we recruited Dalton out of.

I don't understand the narrative that we are ignoring Wyoming JC's we have signed several kids out of there. We just didn't land 2 of the bigger name ones out of them. You win some and you lose some and move on.

I don't remember hearing much of anything about us recruiting Dalton before we signed him so the argument that we must not have been recruiting these kids or we would have known doesn't work for me either.

Exactly, to think that we will hear everything that goes on during recruiting is crazy to me. There is so much going on with dozens of recruits that there is a lot that gets lost in the mix. And to add to that, it is against NCAA rules for the coaches to say anything to anyone outside of the athletic department about prospective recruits, so the only way we hear things is if a coach illegally leaks it or if the recruit (or someone near him) says something about it. To me, it seems highly probably that a recruit would get contacted by a school, have zero interest, and thus never mention it because it's an after thought to them.

6-9 pf transfer from UTEP was a fairly touted kid out of high school had an offer from Arizona at one point

Will he have to sit a year? How many years will he be able to play?

He only played his freshman year at UTEP. Pretty sure he wouldn't be able to play this year but could redshirt and have 3 years of eligibility left.

Brondricks Jones was rated a four-star recruit and a national top-100 player by Rivals coming out of high school. Signed letter of intent to play as SDSU then left for UTEP. Now leaving again??? Hmmmmm...

The fact that he pulled out of his LOI to SDSU then a year later left UTEP is concerning but a 4 star recruit would be pretty great. At this late in the game I would say the risk is worth it.

Hell we brought on Leonard Washingtin and he was more questionable than that, why not.
I agree it definitely can't hurt to give him a shot. He will have to sit out this year anyway, I don't see him leaving another school after that. If he can help the team win I'm all for it.

There's a 5th-year transfer from Minnesota who might be a possibility...6'9", 230 lbs. Charles Buggs.

Great athlete who seemed to have potential, but never put things together. Memphis is probably looking at him too, as Tubby Smith was the guy who brought him to Minnesota.

So, he had to commit if they're posting a pic of him?

A good friend of mine worked at the local ESPN radio in Pullman. Said the kid was really promising as a freshman but didn't quite develop as expected. Sounds like a solid fit for our program, especially as a walk on. Not many teams get walk ons with division 1 experience, we should feel lucky

Yeah this is a solid get for a walk-on.

Probably would've been the best guard not named Adams on last year's team.
