Unless he's improved from the video I saw from last summer, I think this is more of a McManamen-level recruit. Solid, but not spectacular.

Damn. Were loading up on length. I guess Muellers recruiting has taken off since people had a chance to see him on the perimeter. Its odd to be done with recruiting already although we always have attrition.

The coaches think they got a steal on this one. They only have one schollie to fill, have tons of talent in the 2016 class looking at us, and offered him recently. This guy, although under the radar, is a big time addition to our roster.

I think he's got a better stroke than McManimal did coming in and looks bouncy. I think he'll fit in just fine. I was really excited about the potential of Bryce Peters but appreciate this kids willingness to commit. Come be a poke and prove the haters wrong!

I think this is a nice pick-up. I understand jvk's McManamen comparison but I think Mueller has a couple of things going for him. To me, he has a much more compact/quick perimeter motion than JMac had coming out of HS (it looks better now) and he seems comfortable getting into it quickly off the dribble. He is also taller than McManamen and appears stronger than JMac was in HS (although I would say JMac had better HS dunks, which foreshadowed the "White Man's Revenge" against FAMU).

Also, he really saw his recruitment pick up speed this spring. He had some minor injuries last summer according to his player development coach and this spring he has been seeing an increase in his recruitment. The offers are not high level (AFA, Northeastern, Cornell, Weber State, etc.) and that is concerning, but it appears to be picking up and maybe we got him at the right time.

The only concern would be that with McManamen and Gorski already on the roster, we would seem to have a lot of players in that mold. Obviously McManamen will be a Senior when Mueller is a Freshman so it probably doesn't matter too much.

I think we still need some perimeter playmaking in the 2016 class (Bryce Peters would be just fine) and some size up front. I am sure we will sign one more with the expectation of some attrition, but it will be interesting to see if it is a guard or a big. It might just depend on which of our targets we are able to land.

I would say the ship has sailed now on Diallo (wing slot filled) and Childs (Utah kid, BYU offered so...). Bassett and Peters would seem to still be in play.

Beat me to it.

Don't count out Peters yet. I would guess we get one more commit for the 2016 class.

I've seen 6'7" listed for Austin. He looks taller than Allen Edwards in that photo.

Do a twitter search on his name. This April he had a game where he hit six threes and another when he hit eight.

The future roster looks like SDSU length, except with guys that can shoot.

That would be a killer way to round out the next recruiting class.

Does anyone know how our walk-ons are supposed to be? More Jack Bentz type players?

Someone at the guard spot isn't going to be happy with their minutes. Adams will be on the floor. I'm confident Conway will too. That leaves Liebermann, Marshall, Gorski, and Washington fighting for one or maybe two spots in the rotation. I see guard attrition coming, although it always seems to hit our post.

Clearly taller than Edwards (who is 6'5"). Even if Edwards isn't exactly standing with perfect posture in the picture it's pretty clear that Austin is taller. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he ends up as 6'7" (or at least listed there) and looks to have a pretty good sized frame. Could end up in the 6'7" 215 type range (think JJ O'Brien). I think he could be a stretch "4" as well in smaller 4/1 lineups.

Agree, Mr. Parks. "Fits the culture".

Thank you for this.

Admittedly, I never saw JMac in HS so I didn't have a great comparison base. Was only going off what I saw last year.

One thing I'll add. JMac is a 2/3, while this kid looks like he'll be more of a 3/4.

I saw those tweets when I was looking at his twitter earlier and was thinking this might end up being a really great under the radar pick up for Wyoming.

Seen this from the Colorado Miners,

@ColoradoMiners: S/O to @AustinMueller14. Killin it this spring and stacking those D1 offers. 6-7 with a grown man jumpshot out to 28 feet.
