2015 Recruiting

Even on a basketball recruiting thread on the basketball board.....impressive.

Wyoming hoops set to host series of official visits

The Arena-Auditorium may be under construction, but Laramie is open for business.

Wyoming's coaching staff will be plenty busy in the next week, as the Cowboys play host to a series of recruits on official visits. Below is a breakdown of each prospect scheduled to stop by.

Jeremy Shyatt had a quote the other day,

"Advice to players. Every coach will "come to your games" in July. The schools that really want you will try and get you to visit Aug 1st."

From that we can learn a couple of things:

1. We really want these guys. This shouldn't be a surprise. Their available video will tell you that.
2. Out of all the schools that "really want" an August 1st visit, they are coming to Laramie. Maybe they really want us to.
3. This is one of our best recruiting classes(pre-commitment) to date. It's extremely deep. We still have Hassan Thomas coming in August.

Hopefully, this weekend will end in a couple of commits. A 6'7" guy with handles is just what the doctor ordered. Justin James is one of my favorites in this thread. He would be a great fit: long and athletic. Eric Turner is a human highlight reel. He would bring more boom to a line-up already blessed with boom. Imagine him and Austin Conway breaking out into the open floor. A lighting speedy oop lover and a dunker running the floor is like peanut butter and jelly. They go together really well. Billy ball at altitude is getting closer to becoming reality. Moemeka would give us another extremely athletic inside presence to add to a couple of bangers and a couple of towers that we already have.

Go Cowboys. Show these guys the passion and remind them that we have won two national titles out here on the prairie.

Hopefully these guys will love Laramie as much as the rest of us.

Go Pokes!!

Conway is coming up from Colorado this weekend to help recruit these Florida kids. Landing either James or Turner would be another nice feather in the staff's hat for the 2015 class. Hopefully, Austin can help dazzle them with his passion.

Coach Shy and Co. seem to be doing a great job of selling these Florida kids on at least taking a look at what Wyoming has to offer. Granberry and Hankerson could really help the cause, too. Gotta keep this train rolling.

If we snake that dude out from under the Buffs that would be awesome and hilarious. He has offers from Utah State and Boise as well.
Good passer and shooter. Coming off a meniscus injury. Harwell would be a nice pick-up. Leaving Boyle and Rice at Boise empty-handed would be the cherry on top. Good luck to the staff.

Dude... Shyatt is recruiting at such a high level.

This hoops program is going to be something special over the next 5 years.
All started with the ground-work of Larry Nance, Riley Grabau, and Josh Adams.
Remember their names people, when 5 to 10 seasons from now we are landing 3 and 4 stars consistently and Wyo is known as top hoops program. Remember it was the Adams, Nance, and Grabau that started it here at Wyo.

Notes/Updates:

1. We are out of the running for Keith Stone (no surprise)
2. Broderick Jones committed to SDSU
3. Pokes have offered Jordan Dallas, 6'9" PF out of Long Beach (http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jordan-dallas). Dallas has some quality offers (Tulsa, UTEP, Pacific, etc.) and seems to be seeing an increase in his recruiting profile this summer. Appears to be an inside player that needs to develop physically.
4. Pokes have offered Travis Fuller, 6'8" SF out of San Diego (this was a little while back). A lot of Ivy League type offers.

Andrew Moemeka committed. It sounds like we're close on both Turner and James. If he pulls those guys in as well, Wyoming is set for years to come.

Jordan Naughton just committed. This looks like a repeat of last year, we may take more commits than available scholarships, expecting attrition. Remember, we only have one available scholarship at this point. We'll see if we take one or two more commits.

Austin Conway PG
Andrew Moemeka PF
Jordan Naughton C

Now all we need is Justin James and Eric Turner to fill in the SG and SF spots.

Go Pokes.

We're on a roll!

Here is something that is special to see for future Pokes Basketball.

When your new recruit is pushing to get attention for current recruits that he knows will make a difference it will make a difference.

Wyoming is visiting Justin James and Eric Turner this week. Hopefully we'll get one of them to commit(or both with some scholarship magic).
