Man, Conway is as fast as advertised! When he took off on a fast break he just blew by everyone!
He really is lightning out there. I was impressed with his speed as well as his build. He was much more stout than I was expecting. I was worried as short as he is he may not be able to drive or create his own shot as he could be pushed around but he looks like he will be just fine.

I am having a very hard time containing my excitement. I truly think this team will compete this year and these youngsters will have the hard knocks but will be in the thick of things come February/March.

I take it both of you guys were at the scrimmage. Good to hear about Conway. I was under the impression that Washington and Lieberman would get most of the time at the point to start the year but maybe Conway will get more time than I thought.

From what you guys saw at the scrimmage do you think Conway looks like he will be getting a decent amount of minutes to start the year?
I think Lieberman and Washington will play until they prove they don't deserve the minutes. I'd expect to see Conway in garbage minutes or even him to redshirt

Physically there's no doubt he can play right now. I'm not sure if he's mentally ready to run the point for the Pokes (which isn't a knock on him, I just think he'll need some time to adjust)

Conway should really redshirt for his own sake. Adams will eat up 35 out of 80 possible minutes per game for the 1 and 2. Then you have Lieberman, gorski, Washington, Morris Marshall all fighting for the remains. Maybe even mcm or James.

Last year I thought Gorski was someone who could be really good but he was trying to get over that broken finger and had to try to get in shape late but honestly he is a big guard and with the way he can shoot it I wouldn't be surprised to see him start possibly.

You could put Adams at the pg position and then have Gorski and James at the wings and have Herndon at the 4 spot and either Barnes or Naughton at the 5. Then your bench would have Mac, Marshall, Lieberman, Washington and Conway for the wings and point guard slot. Then Have Momeka and Dalton to sub in for Herndon and Barnes and Naughton can switch out for each other.

I think Josh running the point with Gorski spotting up and having James to either spot up or take it to the basket might be a nice combination.

It would be by far the best and highest ceiling for the team. But unlikely to happen. I want Adams and Marshall or gorski to start in the backcourt (well and I'm hoping James is the real deal at the 3. Lieberman for 6th man

Pardon my lack of knowledge - I'm in need of Hoops 101, especially since this team promises to move faster than these old eyes can see.

I understand we have at least 4 guys that can play point, and that 3 of the 4, if not all of them can play SG as well. Would someone mind taking a few moments/minutes and explain the difference between shooting guard and wing, esp in Coach Shy's system? I see we have a lot of guys on the perimeter, guys who can shoot, penetrate and pass, but I'm not sure what that really means on the court.

Many thanks in advance.

Great vid, cp. I am stoked for this team and season. It'll be fun watching them learn what it takes to not only be competitive, but win in this league. 15 days to the first game!

Shyatt is the man! We really do need the student body and the town of Laramie to step up in support more of the team. There's only so much Cheyenne and Casper can add to the party. Knew a lot of Cheyenne die hards back in my day though...especially when we were winning games. When it gets rowdy in there our team really fires off that energy. I like the idea of a bunch of young dudes fired up, ready to play their asses off on D at altitude. We are going to run some teams into the ground by committee in the DOME OF DOOM this year

I hope the crowds make it this season.

Wyo hoops is already truly the pride of our sports at Wyo. Soon, EVERYONE will know it.

There really isn't a difference. SG/SF used to be distinguishable in the late 80's and 90's. Even then, the only difference was the SG was more of a perimeter shooter and the SF was more of a slasher. They were both "wings". Now it's just 'bigs' and everyone else.

Not every team has a true PG. Not every offense needs one. Shyatt's offense needs one. Everyone else will just play to their strengths. If Aka Gorski does a lot of perimeter shooting and not much of anything else, he will be deemed a "shooting guard" by the media and casual basketball fans but it's not a term that most coaches have in their vocabulary because all of the guards will have interchangeable roles in the offense tweaked to their strengths when they're on the court.

The term 'center' is really irrelevant as well because if you have 2 'bigs' on the court, they will essentially be playing the same role (again, tweaked to their strengths).

BHR, Thanks, that what I was thinking, but I couldn't verbalize it. Our perimeter game will be fun, especially if Herndon can hit outside, our guards will have a good time

The Spotszone guys have a couple new interviews up. Theres a Mcmanimal interview on top and a Morris Marshall interview below.
