2014 Bowl Projections

I think it's okay to look at bowl scenarios. Clearly the neutral media thinks it can/will happen. Of course it comes with some hesitation...seems like every year we talk bowl games, that upcoming weekend is win the bubble bursts. Beat FAU, and I think Wyoming gets at least 3 wins before the season ends (6-6). Lose? Then it's time to put the brakes on the hype.

Completely agree. This weekend will make the total number of games played under this coaching regime four. I don't buy this is a must win game either...even though I think the Pokes win Saturday. The MWC is not very good this year and not one team is unbeatable. In fact, every team looks very beatable. The key is improving each week as we have seen so far this season. The past has nothing to do with the present when it comes to this years version of the Pokes.

Yes and No, Let's face it his pocket awareness out of 138 FBS QB's is bottom 10% range. Now if he gets that under control I think the fumble from the sack might not happen because he knows he needs to get rid of it.

He always needs to realize we don't need him to make impossible plays we just need him to manage the clock and the ball.

All I know is that he was running for his life all game and still passed for almost 300 yards.

That's pretty impressive against the number two team in the nation when you are working off your 4th start ever.

He made some bonehead plays but he keeps bouncing back and following up his mistakes with improvements.

I agree, pretty much every conference game this year is winnable, for anybody. BSU and FSU, yes, I said FSU. I curious how they play come conference time. You know, when their not playing playing PAC-12 and Big10 schools. While they've been brutalized so far, they may make noise in league play.
USU has shown that they are a far cry from what they were last year, even with Keeton healthy.
CSU could still make noise. Their passing game scares me worse than their running game. Hawaii is more competitive this year. And WYO has struggled in the past on the island.
But, the confidence and play of our boys gives me hope, thinking we may surprise the MW.

If we go to New Orleans they'll have to rename Bourbon St to just simply "street" when we finish off that town

Were we watching different games? His sacks weren't entirely his fault but the fumbles were entirely his fault, He had great protection the majority of the day he just didn't know when to get rid of it.

I'll quit harping on his pocket presence when he gets some.

He was sacked by Oregon I believe 5 times and was hurried Throughout the game. The fumbles are on him, I'll agree with that.

I know he was drilled several times as he threw ball. I'm not going to pretend he is elite, but I think he's competing out there and doing well all things considered.

He was sacked 6 times by Montana and 5 times by Air force, Our OL is not the entire fault of all the sacks. I know his field experience is lacking, Yes he has improved from game to game in some aspects of his game but the most important knowing when to throw it away or take off and run he has shown no improvement on.

I'm pleasantly surprised with Colby's play so far, although as he's gained some trust in his pass protection, he's started to hold on to the ball WAY too long. A couple of those sacks in the Oregon game were a result of the fact that his line can't block Oregon for 6 seconds. During the Montana game, he seemed nervous and was too quick to get rid of the ball. He wasn't letting plays develop. He's obviously more comfortable now. His internal clock just needs a little refinement. Nothing that can't be corrected with some more experience.

I'm content with our QB play so far.

?

He wasn't sacked at all against AF. He was hit quite a bit but got rid of the ball. I do think that against Oregon he held on to the ball to long from time to time one led to a pick and the other the fumble. I also think he is learning and getting better with each game. Will have to see if the improvement continues.

I just left out Hit in front of the Air Force comment, It doesn't change anything in any way shape or form.

Our receivers haven't shown they can out battle the defender for the ball either.

This still has no impact on Kirk, throwing it away vs taking a sack and fumbling.

Yup, and take us down the length of the field with 2 minutes left down by 3 and win the game for us. He needs to do that too. :D

Or lead the team on 98 yard TD drives capped with an amazing throw to your Biletnikoff watch list WR against the #2 team in the country in their house.
