4.4 speed. 6'0 170lbs. I think we're recruiting him either as a receiver or as a DB (listed as an athlete), as we're pretty well stacked at RB for the next few years, and is otherwise too small to be at any other position.

Andrew Wingard was ready to commit. He was just waiting for the opportunity.

Wingard -- a 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back from Arvada, Colorado -- told Wyoming assistant coach A.J. Cooper over the weekend that he would probably make a commitment sometime in the next few weeks. Ever since the Cowboys offered him a scholarship at one of their recruiting camps during the summer, his heart had been in Laramie.

It was only a matter of time.

When Wingard checked his phone on Tuesday and saw a missed call from Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl, he took it as a sign.

"I told my mom, 'I'm going to call Coach Bohl back and commit,'” Wingard said Tuesday.

That's exactly what he did.

“It was in my heart, and I just said, ‘You know what coach, you’re not going to have to wait any longer.’ I told him I was committing, and he gave out a big holler. It was awesome.”

Wingard excels at both running back and defensive back at Ralston Valley High School, but he said Tuesday that he'll be focusing on defense -- whether that's as a safety or a cornerback -- in Laramie.

In the end, his position didn't matter. That detail was dwarfed by the people he would play for and the program he would represent.

“I just want to go somewhere where I can get on the field as fast as I can and play for great coaches in a great atmosphere," Wingard said. "That’s what I’m going to get at Wyoming, so I’m excited."

2 star CB at 5'9 153lbs. Needs to put some muscle on though. Had offers from Arkie State, UNM, NMSU, and UNT.

Of the 6 Pro Bowl cornerbacks last season, 3 of them were 5'9"-5'10". I'm not saying it's an ideal height, but there are plenty of examples of high quality corners that are short.

Few things.

Cade Smith broke all of Brett's records last night.

USU heavily recruiting Cade. Another visit to Logan this coming weekend.

Looks like Wyo offered two kids from Natrona. While I'm extremely happy for them, I wonder if this is a good thing or bad thing. It looks like they had offers from Black Hills and Weber... not exactly world-beater programs. Maybe we're having a tough time filling out our class

Just remember, people were questioning the Brian Hill offer because of a lack of other great offers.

He didn't have great offers, but he did have FBS offers. That's more than a lot of the other commits can say.

Don't confuse Purdue for Weber State.

Also, welcome to Wyoming football where most of our recruits only other offers are D2 or FCS.

Bohl was in Washington visiting this guy today

Wow. 2 in state recruits within as many days? Nice. Though Harshman needs to put on muscle. According to Rivals, he's under 200lbs. As a DB, that's one thing. As a linebacker at the FBS level, that's pretty undersized.

Bohl will sink or swim on signing day. He's clearly not landing players other schools are drooling over....meaning player development will make or break this era.

The Casper TV station is saying 6' 4" 205. He does have the frame to bulk up.
