That sucks if Beard isn't wrestling. I like this years poster, and that picture of Stroh ripping off someone's head isn't bad either. I can't wait for the season to start.
 
Exciting times! If all goes well I think this team could move up and actually end up in the low to mid "teens". Right now it looks to me a top 10 finish might be a stretch but definitely a top program and moving up!
 
Really excited that Nebraska is showing up for a dual & the Cowboy Tourney. Just to simply compare, Nebraska has 8 preseason ranked wrestlers and as a dual team is ranked 7th.

Gonna be some great matches when they come to town: Cox/Lambert; Mendenhall/Abidin; Stroh/Dudley; Friesth/Wilson and of course whoever Woods & McCulley match up with.
 
Interested to see how McCulley does at a heavier weight. I think it will help him not having to cut so much. I think Templeman will be a big surprise and I would expect to see Mendenhall to be an NCAA qualifier and should be in the rankings by the end of the season.

Tyler Cox remembers being recruited by University of Wyoming wrestling coach Mark Branch during his senior year at Gillette High.

Part of the pitch was that UW was building something special, including new facilities.

“That was six years ago,” said Cox, who has taken both a regular redshirt and Olympic redshirt season.

Now Cox and the rest of the team finally get to reap the benefits of UW’s new wrestling facilities.

It's good to read that Cox finally put on some weight. He's always been so skilled, but so undersized. Hopefully he can keep his weight/strength up throughout the season. Very excited for the new facilities, as well. Hopefully we can start bringing in the top-tier recruits now.
 
WYO-Nebraska wrestling match is FREE to the public this Friday before the WYO-USU football game. Match starts at 3:00 p.m. in the IPF.

Challenging Opening Weekend For UW Wrestling On Tap
Slate includes top-10 opponent and tournament action

As far as season openers go, it doesn't get much tougher than this two-day stretch for the University of Wyoming wrestling team. The Pokes begin the 2014-15 regular season this weekend when UW welcomes the Nebraska Cornhuskers to Laramie for a dual matchup Friday, and hosts the 37th annual Cowboy Open tournament Saturday.

Colgan and Miller emerge as the starters at 149 and 157. Colgan's going to be very good, but I'm scared for Colgan's life, though, James Green is a freaking animal.

Wyoming wrestling looks to take out nationally ranked Nebraska

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Consistently.

In his six seasons in Laramie, Wyoming wrestling coach Mark Branch has won his fair share of impressive duals. In 2009, the Cowboys defeated Nebraska. In 2011, they topped both Oklahoma and Oregon State. They conquered Boise State in both 2012 and 2013.

But as the 2013-14 season wore on, the Cowboys faltered. Branch's group lost five consecutive duals to ranked opponents, stumbling through perhaps the most challenging stretch of his tenure.

Man, a win tonight would be sweet. I wonder about the environment of the IPF for a wrestling match though..
