We played better tonight than we did over our previous two games. I thought we did what we were supposed to. What happens in under a minute in most basketball games are pure dumb luck, we hit three 3's in under a minute to even give us a chance, that to me is huge. Things didn't work out, but just remember where we were last year.

Realistically we aren't going to shoot the 3 ball that well too many more times this year. Sorry but I'm not ever going to be happy losing at home in conference. Shouldn't happen too often and it has happened 3 times already. It's not like New Mexico is a top 10 team. They are a good team but very beatable. I chalk this loss up to dumb decisions the whole game.

And you know what, like I stated earlier, a lot of us were predicting 15-18 wins this year. All of a sudden the talk goes to NCAA this and that, because we start 13-0. Then conference play started. Again, our conference is legit. If you predicted 15-18 wins, you weren't predicting an NCAA birth. more CBI or nothing.
I came into this season with the expectation to get into ANY postseason. I think we have a good shot at 20 wins this year plus a second straight postseason. No, CBI doesn't have the notoriety that the NCAA or NIT has, but, it gets our players more game time and any postseason and winning record helps with recruiting. We are still on the upward trend.
Losing sucks! But all but one have not been bad. We are right in each one till the end. This 2-5 record could easily be flipped. and we have a second stint against all these teams again...
not sure how much more my poor heart can take watching this team lose at the end. Yeah it was a boneheaded pass by Lwash, but I truly wasn't impressed by the 20th ranked Bozos. let's rally for a great 2nd half of the season(conf) and see where we go from here. Beeeet the Sheeep

I am mostly frustrated (not with any justification mind you) due to the following:
1. This was the first Wyoming team in many, many years that had positioned themselves to land an at-large bid to the NCAA tourney at the mid point in the season (even the 01-02 team was on the outside looking in at that point). Hate to see us blow the opportunity, even if I didn't expect it to be there at the beginning of the season.
2. Looking at forecasted RPI's, etc. it appeared that the Pokes would only need to go 9-7 (maybe even 8-8 if things broke right) in MWC play to be in position for a NCAA berth. The fact that .500 seems so out of reach at this point is very disheartening.
3. Lack of development for the younger players. The idea is that as Shyatt brings in more of his own players the team should improve, but the fact is we were totally dependent on two Schroyer recruits (LW and Luke). Shyatt's recruits have really struggled against MWC caliber talent. The Pokes aren't that young (still start two seniors, who are the top two scorers) and don't appear to be building that critical mass of talent for a future run. There is nothing that makes you think we will be NCAA bound next year or in the foreseeable future.

Last year we never heard of Riley Grabau, this year he is starting. Shyatt is doing the best he can with what he has. If we didn't have two senior to rely on, then we'd have to rely on a bunch of guys without any D1 experience. Last night our 9 man rotation was made up of 3 upper classmen and 6 underclassmen (three true freshman). Only three guys on this team played at all last year....except for a few minutes by Grabau. But somehow Shyatt is supposed to make up for what was lost.
Unlike some of you, I see a decent nucleus being built. You don't come into a program that Shyatt inherited and expect to get top notch talent. Or maybe I just don't demand the world. It takes time to build a program. Next year we have a top #25 guard out of high school and a dude who is averaging almost 30 and 20. Last night we saw some of the potential of Cooke. I'm guessing he wasn't this good at the beginning of the season.

I think the whiners on the board are just simply delusional about where we stand as a basketball team. This is THE most difficult place to recruit basketball players, there's no question about it. I'm not making excuses, but you have to heed your expectations a little bit to be Poke fan, if you don't you'll end up having a stroke in your 30s.

In re-running the recording of the Washington pass to Nance, it appears the pass was where it should be - down low by the basket, but Nance wasn't there, possibly being held up by the defender.
