True. It was built way too big. A 10k venue is perfect for us.

One of the things to keep in mind when judging the crowd size in the AA is that the top row of seats has 1000 seats, and the upper brown section is 5,000 seats. most if not all the top brown was empty, and there were plenty of other empty seats. 8200 sounds about right.

You kids- no sense of history and reality. Before we had the AA, basketball was played in the Fieldhouse. The floor was dirt, there was a raised court "stage". Seating ran about 5-6,000. Johnny Cash sold the place out in '72.

The basketball team was packing the place. Linda Ronstadt, Marshal Tucker, and even ZZ Top filled the place regularly at the height of their popularity.

When the AA was built, the demand for basketball tickets was regularly over 10,000. Between the need for a larger capacity events venue and a home for Wyoming basketball, it was decided to build an arena that would be a hub of civic activity AND pride.

This game tonight was awesome, Our bigs (Nance, Washington, even Cooke) played so well!! dominated some very good players for CU, Roberson is an NBA ball player. Adams is quickly coming into his own, Sobey played well! Everyone did there thing such a fun game and atmosphere to be apart of! I am so excited for the rest of the way!

Finally! Somebody speaks the truth. Put blame where you want, but the AA hasn't been attended well for 8-10 years, with the exception of Elton and his gay-is-ok lecture, and a few games in the 07 Women's NIT. Not sure the vision is there, where it was in the early 80's either...

They had about 12 garbage points. Meaning the Pokes let them get those shots uncontested so they wouldn't draw any stupid fouls and allow CU to score on FTs (you know, scoring without losing time off the clock). Had a great view of it from where I was sitting.
