They're just fickle. You have to win. Other fan bases are better because they have had more winning. If you build it they will come and we haven't built shit in a long time, and everytime we get momentum we choke it all away. When we win, the fans come out in force.
 
The fans will come out as long as there is a competitive team......25K came out for the homecoming debacle....and as a result of the drubbing by CSU over which we were heavy favorites, I'm surprised there were as many as there were last night. I thought that one of the positives in the report claimed a fan base that was very passionate about the Cowboys, just not willing to support mediocrity. It cost folks a lot to travel to laramie, gas is not cheap, 8:15 kickoff requires an overnight stay for folks from other than Cheyenne or Laramie, meals, not to mention a lot of windshield time to stew over the product that CDC has put on the field....throw in $45 for each ticket......why bother if the frustration and embarrassment is predictable!
 
Didn't someone point out how even in the 87 and 88 the attendance was bad too?
19K isn't good. 15.7K is god awful.
25K for our biggest game is a joke.

They don't come even if we are a competitive team. We have had 2 straight 20 win seasons in basketball and we only get 5k on a Friday night game? That is pathetic the only way people show up is when we play big name schools, most fans don't show up to watch Wyoming play they show up to see Texas, or Nebraska, or the big teams in the conference. The fact that we only get 5k for our opener with a basketball team that has been winning games is absolutely pathetic. There is no reason why there shouldn't be 8-9k at every single game in basketball, our fanbase is not fickle, they just care more about who we are playing than coming to watch Wyoming.

I would hope that we could energize the 13000 members of the student body that gain admittance as a full time student to help fill the AA.....maybe we could do better at that than we can with the lower east stands.....good on Shyatt for all he has accomplished....even has some wins over ranked teams....but the program has not had any real CONTINUED success since Brandenberg....when they did fill the AA to watch the Cowboys so don't tell me the fans won't come out....they just won't waste hard earned money.

I've been to the football games.....but not sure how this post about BBall ended up here but to answer your question....stop padding the schedule with what should be scrimmage games....back to back 20 win seasons is great but UTMartin and CU CSprings don't entice me to hop in the car and drive 100 miles to watch the Cowboys....once again, where have they finished in the MWC standings? 20 win seasons sound great but when you peel back the onion......no so much!

Exactly my point, Wyoming fans care more about watching the team we play rather than wanting to show up to watch Wyoming play. It shouldn't matter who we are playing for fans to show up, they should show up to see Wyoming.

You once again missed the point....I'm typing as slow as I can in hopes you might understand...put a consistently competitive team on the floor or field and the fans will come.....BBall is a little more difficult for out of towners for weekday games and with travel conditions so a good portion of the fan support will be from Laramie.....schedule attractive opponents that will test the Cowboys and better prepare them for the conf schedule.......stop scheduling cupcakes that will ensure you have 20 wins......make it competitive....more fun to be on the edge of your seat cheering than to sit back and watch a yawner that does you no good come conf time......kind of like scheduling UNC and Idaho in football.....those two patsies were to assure bowl eligibility but the wheels fell off the bus somewhere along the way.

And for football....I guess Michigan state, Oregon, mizzou, and wazzu are patsies too?
And hoops....we are playing at Ohio State this season. And CU. And btw shyatt has said how hard it is to get ooc games against top competition in Laramie. Easier said than done
 
I get what Pokes Forever is saying.. I have Montana Grizzly basketball season tickets and the home schedule, at best, is shit this year (OOC is bad all around).. team has been to the NCAA tournament a few times recently and every year get thrashed when they play a real team in the tournament, Cuse last year, Wisconsin the year before. Playing sub-quality schools gets you killed when the games matter. However, the Griz still draw 5000+ for home games.
