Nothing says a program in reverse like a Saturday night game against a ranked opponent - televised by ESPN - than does 15K in the building tonight.

I'm sure President Sternberg took note.

But it was cold! And it was a late kick off!

I'd have been there but I blew my wad taking a few new to WY friends to the Border War. I doubt they'll be back.

As I looked around I was really surprised, maybe even shocked...that was embarrassing for the entire University and the football program.

This is the result of a football program that has lost the confidence of a fan base that is too smart to be seduced by...what is that word again?

Oh, right, M-E-D-I-O-C-R-I-T-Y

You guys apparently weren't here for the Koenig years. 15K would have been a great turnout for a night game in November. Any of you remember the 2000 game against Utah?

Yeah, but these ain't the Koenig years...

True, but after the CSU debacle, I thought it was a reasonable crowd. They were pretty loud through the first half I thought.

I was there.

At least Koenig could pull off a win over a ranked opponent.

How effed up is that little gem of a stat?

Yeah, especially when you consider that Christensen is playing in a weaker conference now and he doesn't have one signature win. He doesn't have hardly any wins over teams with winning records either.

I was there for that one too. I was not there for the win over AFA. How crazy is it that the only win against a conference opponent came against a ranked one.

Could of fooled me. Product on the field looked just like Vic's........

I was there last night and was suprised at how many fans were in attendance give the record, blowout losses including the CSU debacle, late night game, cold (but not too cold) and on TV. But what were they given in exchange for being there? A total shit sandwich from DC & company. 3rd quarter 4th and 7 and thats when DC decides to go for it? Not on the other 4th and shorts? Then #16 throws it out of bounds. That was our last chance for turning this around but DC would have nothing of it. That is when I got the hell out of there and I won't bother with going the rest of this season. My 2 cents worth.

Exactly, a field goal and we're down 2 scores with a lot of game left. Instead, 2 minutes later we're down 4 scores. Although the time out before the fake punt was brilliant. No one saw that coming...

15.7K is a fucking joke. Our fanbase sucks. We are just a couple dozen of die-hards. We don't represent the normal fan base in any way.
The rest of the fanbase sucks. They don't care. They don't want to come. I saw more little kids wearing Fresno jerseys last night than I saw Wyoming kids. What a joke.
At least I got to see Derek Carr play live before he goes to the NFL, and hopefully Fresno wins out so I can say I saw a BCS Bowl team this season.

Ya know, outside BSU and FSU I think most teams in the MWC would like to have 15,700 at a game. I don't think we should be satisfied at all but I'm just sayin....we have a good fan base! Low population, long distances (especially for a night game) etc. And they have been treated poorly.

I don't know the fanbase "sucks." It's just not a football state. We're so spread out, and there's not really a football culture...the kind where a significant percentage of the population lives and breathes football, where it's simply a normal part of life to commit half of Friday and all of Saturday to head off to a game, tailgate, throw parties, etc....whether the team is good, bad, or indifferent.

Around here, football is just one thing, fairly well down the totem pole, that folks might take an interest in if it's going to be convenient, going to be "fun" (i.e., we're pretty assured of winning), if there's not something closer to home to do with your buddies that particular day (i.e., fishing, hunting), if...if, well, a hundred other things.

I've lived in places where college football rules, and it's night and day.

So, you're right. We're diehards here. We're not a good cross section of Wyoming folks, when it comes to football.

My support for Wyoming has been off the charts since before I attend UW in 1995. I've had season tickets for almost a decade, spent countless hours driving to and from Denver, have two boys that are geared from head to toe (not to mention the thousands of dollars wife wife and I have spent on ourselves), give to CBJC every year, and waste a lot of time reading articles and forums. Not different or better than many Cowboy fans on these boards or in general. But, there is no way I would've subjected myself to that shitshow in person last night. Earlier in the year we had this game circled for a large tailgate with all of our friends - not a person I know ended up going. Call me and my ilk what you will, but apathy (the worst possible reaction for an AD who counts on fan support) has set in for many. Not going is the only voice we have left.

You had to walk across town to go and could be home in 10 minutes if/when the meltdown occurred. Many don't share your situation so quit calling the fan base a joke - its the athletic department (not the players) that is!

Woah woah woah I am not calling you a joke. Like I said earlier, the majority of the fans that go to games are not WyoNation die hards.
We have a bunch of people who just don't give a shit.
If the fans cared, the athletic department would feel some pressure and a sense of urgency. If they felt that, they wouldn't be okay with a shitty ass program.
We are such a minority. We care. 95% of the fanbase doesn't. And that is why I was saying the fan base is a joke.

I would have to agree with BP on this one, the fanbase here in Wyoming is not a very good one. Sure we have some very good fans and some great diehards, like the people on this board, but the vast majority don't care about UW athletics like we do and they aren't very knowledgeable either. I grew up as a CU fan, since I lived near Denver and I hated CSU and the fans at that school are 10x the fans that we have. Also I am embarrassed by our students here they don't care about much of anything and get mad if you get rowdy at all. Hell at the first basketball game I had people repeatedly telling me to sit down because I was standing in the front row and they didn't want to stand during the game.
