Isaiah Neyor

Midwest Cowboy

Well-known member
My own pet peeve here. Neyor is on the UW squad for 3 years and gets some recognition. Enters portal and commits to Tennessee. Later visits Ole Miss. Ends up at Texas. Does nothing at Texas (1 catch). Tears ACL. Enters portal and ends up at Nebraska. Does okay for a year. Enters portal. Commits to Louisville Cardinals. Decommits and declares for the draft.

Gets a shot with 49'ers where he is introduced as a Texas wide receiver. Cut. Ends up with Green Bay where is is reportedly doing well and is frequently written about as Nebraska wide receiver. The only time he had any meaningful success was with Wyoming. I'd love for UW to get some props. It would be nice for Neyor to recognize UW. Never heard anyone make that connection.

Once they get to the NFL, it seems the players themselves dictate a lot about what schools they are connected to. Especially with the video introductions a lot of broadcasts use now, the players can basically say anything they want. There was a trend a while back where some would say the high school or elementary school they went to instead of the college they attended.

He reportedly got close to $1 Million to go to Texas. Texas and Tennessee were in a battle for him. Zero chance a player being offered life changing money is going to stay at Wyoming just because. He made the right move but the ACL injury and the extremely deep Texas WR room derailed his college career.

I hope he does well. Was fun to watch him for the 2 years we had him.

He was just among the first of many players who left for greener pastures (pun intended). I hate it but we better get used to the idea that any underclassman who shows great talent or promise is going to transfer for more money.

I never want good players to leave, but I he made the absolute correct choice getting out of here, considering the offense and quarterback play up to that point.

I don’t think that had much of anything to do with his decision. Pretty sure it was a lot of dollars and the added opportunity to return to his home state. We upgraded at QB that offseason.

I guess we count differently. 2019 - 1 game/red shirt, 2020 - 8 catches, 2021 - 44 catches. How many teams did he commit to? If he couldn't assess the talent/opportunity on the Texas team (by the way, the kid is from Arlington, Texas and still chose to go there after committing to Tennessee), that's 100% on him. He is what's wrong with college sports. I won't spend negative energy rooting against him, but I could care less if he ends up a wide receiver coach for a Pop Warner team in West Katoka.

He was set to start at Texas before getting injured.

The sad truth is that between 2017 and 2021 (first season NIL was available) there was only one FBS starting caliber WR at Wyoming and that was Isaiah Neyor. Given the passing game incompetent offense Craig Bohl ran and recruited to at Wyoming I can imagine Isaiah's time in Laramie was frustrating for a player clearly capable of so much more. Therefore, it does not surprise me one bit that Wyoming is not mentioned in Isaiah's past.

Regarding Isaiah's many college moves after UW, as long as there are no player contracts, no NIL 'pay for play' limits, no transfer limits for me this is a case of "don't hate the player hate the game." These 18–23-year-olds are playing in an era with little to no rules and many of them are being given sums of money they and their families have never seen and possibly will never see again.

Yikes...I was sure that could not be true but after thinking about it....that is more accurate than not.

On the topic of the other stuff....it used to bother me when people would degrade these players or express hatred when they would decide to transfer, but now I just find it laughable. If you are a nitwit and want to get you panties in a bunch over something stupid...I guess having hard feelings about athletes transferring will do the trick.

Strawman award.

NIL and relaxed transfer rules broke the brains of many college sports fans. It's not 1994 anymore...time to grow up. The big boys did...those who don't?...well...we are seeing the results.
