$5.25 Million For Football Players

Haha, thank you. I like Cody but don’t think I’d fit their culture. As far as I know, Jay Sawvel doesn’t have anything incriminating on me and thus my articles would not be routinely full of sunshine and roses when describing the coaching.
is their "culture" just much more tight knit and sunshine pumping or something?

GCU is spending $12M on their basketball team. You are probably looking at $1M for MBB and then a split between Wrestling and WBB. I can only assume how much Ohio State will throw at Eddie this year once their 184 graduates
I've got it on good authority that basketball is going to have around $2.25M this season to work with.

I consistently read 7220 articles. I appreciate the level of journalism. But if you had read the articles over the past 3 years, you might be led to believe that Jay Sawvel is the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi. I suspect 7220's general viewpoint on Sawvel's coaching prowess is a very minority viewpoint.

The problem is that the athletic department (under prior administrations - hoping Reeves makes some changes here) is not necessarily reflected of typical free press that we expect. Negative articles appear to result in the journalist from being basically cutoff from access.

Perhaps there are additional donor dollars. Cody's article suggests that there is roughly $1.75 million left for 'revenue share' (after football) to distribute amongst all other sports (mostly men's basketball).

Cody, Alex, and Dion all have sponsors to answer to so even if they want to write something edgy they can't. The Trib probably has more leeway but when Ryan left he took that with him as Ryan definitely toe'd the line.

I see. I do like that they have an app. I wish this board did. ON3s board is mostly dead

They can spend that because the don’t have football to worry about funding.

Tucker may as well be paid by UW. All he does is push the departments narrative. And its interesting if you disagree with him or prove him wrong on X, he blocks you. What a pompous prick.
