CMU game thread

So, the wife and I had flights booked to Denver for the UConn game. It would’ve been her first trip to Laradise.

Those tickets were nonrefundable. I've just decided that we're going to eat the inconvenience and convert them to future flight credits because there is absolutely no fucking chance we’re flying from Atlanta to watch whatever the hell this program has become.

Losing to Central Michigan is embarrassing. This is a program that is asking fans to continue investing their money, time, travel, and emotional energy while giving them absolutely nothing worth investing in.

I don’t expect anything from Prez. R. right now. He’s got his hands full with an institution that has plenty of problems well beyond Athletics. But I’ll be damned if I continue pouring additional financial or emotional resources into Wyoming football while this is the product being put on the field.

I love Wyoming. I love Laramie. I love the Pokes. That isn’t changing.

But fandom is not a blank check.

You don’t get to put this kind of garbage on the field and then expect people to keep buying plane tickets, booking hotels, making donations, purchasing tickets, and arranging entire weekends around watching it.

Go Pokes forever. See y'all next week.

Just 9 more games to go. Whatever these players are getting in NIL is money very poorly spent. Absolutely terrible play at every position. I've seen enough of Hughes. He looks one way and throws it there. But, whatever. Sawvel can't evaluate talent and he sure as hell can't motivate or coach x's and o's. And I've got to question an O-coordinator who insisted on bring Hughes here. Shows about as much judgement as Sawvel.

I don’t think Taylor was prepared for what he’s stepped into. I think he brought Hughes thinking he was ready for the next level and could be a security blanket for him as he learned how to be an OC. What he’s finding out is, Hughes is small, has a hard time seeing over bigger linemen, and he doesn’t look off his receivers. He locks into one guy and panics if he isn’t open. Gee, that sounds familiar. He’s a competitor, but not a D1 QB. I feel bad for him because he got all kinds of hype and isn’t living up to it. He doesn’t have a very solid receiver corps, and a half speed Tote isn’t helping either. There’s too many things about Sawvel that I’m disgusted with to even begin posting.

Disagree with this part.

If he doesn’t act now, that all but guarantees another dreadful season again next year.

That is not acceptable, in my opinion. The time to act on athletics is now.

Need to try a different QB. Put in simms until he blows out another body part
What about the heralded Drube? Is he still 3rd string on a weak offense? If a one legged QB is our next best option what does that say about the offensive revamp?

It was suspect as to why Hughes was a rarely used bench player at the FCS level. His numbers probably looked better at W&M being surrounded by better players for the level of competition. Hughes looks better than Van Der Waal but not as strong as Chambers playing on a Glenn strength team without a serious stud at the RB position like Valladay was.

The last Wyoming HS QB I remember putting up some good numbers in college was the kid from East that went D2 or NAIA at some place in North Dakota or something like that. Anyone who is more familiar with Wyoming HS football might be able to correct me as it’s been a long time since I actually paid attention to players in Wyoming HS sports.
