probably not, but we will find out tomorrow where the direction of this season is heading. this is the most pivotal game, and not just because its the next one. a loss tomorrow probably means a 2, MAYBE 3 win season, which would essentially be rock bottom. a win and who knows? but this is a game wyoming should and can win
 
Truthfully, I will be surprised if we beat CMU. Our baseline play is already bad and we always play worse on the road. It pains me to say it, but as bad as CMU is, we are worse.

I mean, we just got pretty much dominated by a bad FCS team in our home stadium for three quarters. Sawvel is still head coach. I see absolutely no reason for optimism when it comes to this game.
 
My biggest fear is that CMU comes up with something different with their offensive game plan and plays their best offensive game of the season while the Pokes struggle to move the ball and extend possessions beyond a 3 and out.

If this team has any chance of improving on the past 2 years this is a huge must win with only the NIU and UTEP games remaining as the most inept teams on the schedule.

CMU has been rotating QB's in their first two games. The ball has moved pretty well when Flores has been in at QB, and it sounds like they are going to let Flores take the bulk of snaps against us.

He is a decent runner, but is not a good passer. Normally, this would allow us to put nine men in the box to stuff the run, but we just cannot put our CB's on an island or they will get beat. It wasn't exactly like the UNC receivers were wide open or that the UNC QB was throwing perfect balls. When the balls were in the air, our CB's were actually in excellent position, but they were atrocious at playing the ball. Hanging all over the WR's, never turning their heads to see where the ball was...just terrible ball skills.
 
#8 Wyoming- whipped on the road by G6 rival, dominated for 3 quarters by bad FCS school but pulled a win out in the end.

#9 UTEP- shut out by top 10 school, put up 51 against a bad FCS school

#10 NIU- shut out by top 20 school, lost to FCS national runner up.

I guess I can see putting us ahead of UTEP but not by much.

Super small sample size so far but I starting to worry about playing UTEP on the road.

Two great adds to the MWC--I always wondered what the love was for UTEP and here is exhibit A, they wete a drag on the WAC, except for one year. I never remember they did anything football side and the year they did, the Pokes pasted them in the big game. Imagine that. "the Pokes pasted them" where did all that go.

I think the respect for UTEP when it was part of the WAC was due to their basketball program. They also provided a chance for a warm weather game in the late season for football.
