Fire Burman

Very solid observation....I would much rather have had stability at the BOT and President level while churning through AD candidates than the inverse.
This is the correct opinion, and anyone who thinks otherwise is short-sighted. The President needs to be focusing on the academic side of the house. Burman is a terrible AD, but even he knows that every president essential resetes his "shit list" clock.

Ok, what’s the record for number of replies to a thread? This one seems endless despite the fact that everyone seems to agree with the subject.
I believe this is known as a consensus. Too bad our opinions do not carry any weight in the decision making processes at UW.

It's crazy to take the University's most valuable marketing asset off the table.

I have to wonder what a company looking to build potentially the State's largest ever energy project, a project facing potential community headwinds, may be willing to pay for such rights.
Wise move for jerseys. We are still leaving a ridiculous amount of money on the table by not selling the naming rights to the stadium.

Pointless to keep bringing this to the top, I am fully aware. I think we are stuck with this asshat through the 2026 - 2027 athletic season. Hoping we hear about a resignation in April or May of 2027. A guy can dream can't he?

His contract ends next summer so he will announce something during the cool off period of Dec when no one is watching and he will just disappear

Something that surprises me is Burman has been noticeably quiet on social media and just around campus in general. The CSU President and AD are in lock step and making videos with each other promoting their University. Outside of one post (meeting with swimming and soccer) Burman has not been in another post With President Reeves. He is out there meeting new students AND still attending sporting events.

Having worked in government long enough this almost feels like a silent firing. Even is Sawvel is fired this year I don't think Burman would have ANY word in a new HC with Reeves firmly at the helm now. Reeves brought his very trusted #2 from West Point so he can really focus on something with a trusted person just under him.

Burman's contract is ending in the summer of 2027. I expect the new President and Burman have already had a conversation regarding this, and I would suspect they have agreed that his contract will not be renewed. I'm sure it will be framed as a "retirement" whether Burman really planned on that or not.

My main concern is the timing of everything. If we truly don't transition to a new AD until the summer of 2027, that is way too late to be looking for a new head coach for football. If that is the case, it probably means a 4th year of Sawvel, which I'm not sure I could stomach.

Ideally Burman would be gone now, we would have a new AD in place later this fall, and that new AD can guide what happens with Sawvel and any potential hires for the 2027 football season.

I was going to make a Rubio-esq meme since President Reeves seems like the AD now as well. I wonder if Reeves is looking for an out in his contract to see if Dec 31 he could have Burman set sail.

Ideally Sawvel turns it around this year. I don't think Burman would have any say in a new HC and Reeves would just push him aside anyway. I used to think and heard Whisnant was next in line but Reeves may truly clean house this year

Has Burman ever engaged with students or common folk?

I think he used to a bit more, but even if he didn't in the past I would assume President Reeves would have been dragging him around to be on social media more promoting the University. Right now it feels like Reeves in the AD
