I always thought a lot of his success was just nepotism as having the same name as his dad really helped him get opportunities that say Stephen Mora who is a mortgage broker in Bend, Oregon didn't get.

Here is a link to an article on Jim Mora Jr.:

I don't know if his name has gotten him extra opportunities or not, but his results speak for themselves.

He's held two college football head coaching positions and turned around both teams relatively quickly. Turning around UConn is a mild miracle in my opinion. He's a good coach.

We will lose by 10+! ugghhh
Opening games are so hard to predict now. I really have no clue what to expect. If we look at HC's only, then CSU definitely has a big advantage.

Really, it will probably all boil down to how good Hughes is. Outside of one good year from Peasley, our QB's have been pretty damn bad since Josh Allen left. Just mediocre QB play probably gets us at least 7 wins against our crap schedule.

I hope Hughes is good, but he played at Williams and Mary before coming to UW. Not that UW is any power house anymore, but still .....

Reminds me of players coming out for baseball teams that played at their local summer city rec league vs players that had been playing on travel teams. Different world! Hofefully our keen eyed staff has seen thru that....

All true.

To counter, Brayden Johnson came from Division II school Oklahoma Baptist. He turned out to be able to compete at this level just fine and earned All-MWC honors in his only season here.

I think that Jim Mora is a mediocre coach (he could coach circles around Sawvel and that still would be true). Crazy to me that some people on this board are ready to turn him into Vince Lombardi.

The UConn stint is not that impressive to me. After two losing years he had back to back 9 win seasons with an independent schedule ranked 120th and 131st in difficulty. Last year the 9 teams they beat won a combined 39 games for an average of just over 4. Meanwhile UConn is the only FBS team in a state with over 3.5 million people and one of only a few teams in the most populous region in the country. While Mora was there they benefitted from massive exposure and financial gains from their success in other sports.
