Attendance is going to tank with 2 Friday night home games

Amazing! After Burman gave away our best September home game, he actually found a way to make the schedule even worse for season ticket holders. Late season friday night home games on October 23 against Air Force and November 20 against New Mexico. Prepare for an empty stadium and tickets that can't be given away.

But hey - by giving away our home game against North Texas to go play in Fort Collins, we are doing a great job in helping the PAC with its new deal with the USA network.

He is such a fuckup...I can't stand it.
 
The reality of our new conference suddenly became real to me after looking at this schedule. I do not want to be a constant negative on this board and I will post less and less if I become a poster like the guy with the Howdy doody avatar. But a home final against Connecticut? And maybe I will become more engaged when the season starts. But games against Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Utep almost sound like 3d rate pre conference opponents. I guess I'm getting old and can't accept change like when I was younger. But this schedule seems like a huge step backward. I hope I'm wrong.
And here's a question to any and all of you regarding Air Force. It seems to me, with the NIL and transfer rules now in play, that Air Force is going to be at a huge disadvantage going forward. I know they recruit a different kind of student athlete. But it seems to me that their only recruits are going to have to be hard core military career types. Maybe it's always been that way. But any player recruited by Air Force and other non military schools now has fewer reasons to choose Air Force. I only bring this up because the quality of their football and basketball programs has really fallen off in recent years. Paying them extra to stay in the conference may prove to be a huge mistake.

I think the military schools have an advantage in this new era of college football. The player going to those schools isn’t looking for the next paycheck. Roster stability is going to be a big advantage IMO.

Navy and Army have been solid in recent years.

I don't know. Wyoming fans have historically done well with Friday night games and Air Force always draws a crowd. Instead of Friday Nigh Lights the Cheyenne Football teams (if at home) should do a Saturday game after AFA and market for their teams to attend UW. I know Wyoming Marketing department is dog water but just a thought

I like the Friday before Thanksgiving to keep the students in town for it but the UCONN game is so dumb. Linear TV in late November is good in my opinion.

It is interesting how Navy and Army have actually done pretty well with all of the moving parts in college athletics. Air Force has had two poor seasons in a row, but from 2019 through 2023 they went 40-12 not counting the covid season (which UW is big on not counting).
