Pokes absolutely destroy winless AFA

Whenever you start to try to convince yourself that this team might have turned a corner and can be competitive in the conference tournament, they turn in a performance that reminds you not to get your hopes up.

90% chance we are bounced in the first round. 99.9% chance we won’t get past the second round.

Just to put this in perspective, this Air Force team might be the worst team in the history of the MWC. Their 3 wins this year are against schools I didn't know existed. They have lost most of their conference games by 20-40 points. The only close games being with us and San Jose St.. Whatever hope I had for a win or 2 in the MW tournament is gone. Walker is a combined 4-25 from the floor in the last 2 games. We need all the guards hitting shots because the interior defense by our big men is non existent.

Not trying to diss the team for getting a win, but:

It would be much more entertaining to play a tough game if we knew a win kept us in contention for the conference title and a postseason bid. That train left the station in late December.

We didn’t quit in this game and become the first conference team to lose to AFA.

Instead, we could win 2 more and tie for 8th, lose 2 more and finish 10th or maybe take 9th all to ourselves regardless of the next 2 games.

Finishing 8th, 9th or 10th in conference is simply a continuation of Burmanitis. The only thing we will hear with one more win is the 2025-26 season was a winner!

After the results yesterday in conference, Wyoming can finish no better than 9th and will be among the four teams that will be sub .500 in conference play.

I guess if we were to try and say our glass is almost half full the conference was really tough and we have a chance to finish as good as .450 or on the emptier side as low as .350.

Unfortunately for me I can’t see the glass in any way but on the less full side and yesterday reminded me of why playing against a 3 win team the rest (the 10 or more win teams) of the conference dominated.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing. It looks like all 8 teams in front of us have 10 wins. We can't get there. We either finish 9th or 10th. But yeah, it doesn't really matter. If we are in the 8-9 game, who cares if we are the 8 or the 9?
