For all of my criticisms of the state of Wyoming, the city of Laramie, I have an incredible amount of love for the place. I want nothing more than to take my wife to Laramie for a football game and show her the city that gave this kid from Philly a chance to jumpstart his career.

I remember waking up early for games at the War when I could reasonably expect we would put a decent product on the field. We didn't win as much as I have liked, but man we were fun to watch. I remember driving to Vegas, on a whim, with my classmates (skipping classes, btw) for the MW tournament and winning the whole damn thing, stumbling to the nearest tattoo shop with 8 of my buds and getting steamboat tattoos. Wyoming Athletics was my first real taste of Division 1 football, and I love it, and always will.

I don't know where I go from here, but god damn I'm sad.

Let's see how close this is to what we hear:

We are not meeting expectations - we all know that. Jay knows he has to improve. I have faith in Jay to turn it around on the offensive side of the ball - look at what he did with the defense this year. It is hard being us with all of the turmoil and money and transfers. The offensive production was not there and I know we have to change that. Jay is working hard to find a new OC that can help him turn the ship. There were a lot of openings and you can't just fire a guy, you have to know who you will hire. Pickins' were slim. Yadda Yadda Yadda.

Functionally, we will be told Jay has a year and if he fails, he is gone at the end of the season next year. He can't say it, but we don't have the money to fire him and get anyone worth the powder to blow them to hell. Simply put, we will have to suffer for another year because of the crummy contract TB signed with JayBoy. Get ready for yet another lost year of Wyoming football. What a joke.

I wasn’t creative enough to come up with PSJ for basketball. Same thing. My insinuation of an arranged hire was not accepted well as there were many who felt PSJ should have been the head coach.

Just to be clear...the ire has nothing to do with any sort of affection for Sawvel or Aaron Bohl. It lies completely with the confusing nature of the moniker. Within the inside-joke, meme world of internet forums...you can be a lot of things...but if you are confusing it's just wierd. The discourse here relies heavily on shared understanding and immediate recognition of premise and point. When a reader encounters PBJ in a post and has to pause for a moment to figure out "what the heck is this?"..... The writer's point, even if it's good, is diluted if not completely lost. Whoever came up with "Sawful" wins hands down here...it's punchy and nobody is confused by it.

Sawvell = Promote Bohl Junior (PBJ)
Bohl Junior = Bohl Junior

Definitely see the confusion.

I’ve been waiting 2 years for that single person at a football game to shout ‘fire PBJ’ and to hear the reaction of confused surrounding fans defending peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I planned to use it as an opportunity to meet ragtime in person.
