Taking bets

My guess is our punter Edimiston who was probably the best player on the team. Anderson will get zero interest from anyone with half a brain.

I think Andeson will get a shot somewhere else. QB's are hard to come by. I also think anyone that watches the film will realize how bad our coaching is. A kid doesn't start for the High School that he started for and not get another shot. That's my opinion on it.

That was before the injuries to his knee. There was reason he ended up at Wyoming instead of one of the Texas schools. Just from the way he played at Wyoming you can tell he does not have the agility needed at the FBS level.

Anderson is not an FBS or FCS QB. He may be a D2 or NAIA level QB - but he just doesn't have it. I feel for him as I think without his injuries, he would have had a much different career. I wish him well, but it is time for UW to move on from him and for him to find a better fit.

I hope that we keep the young RB's!!!!!

Anderson is in a tough situation and that is for sure. I don't feel that all of the offensive woes were on his shoulders, but he made enough mistakes. Anderson's biggest issue is that he is not mobile, so I would be surprised if any FBS would be willing to offer him. I do believe in the right situation he could do a decent job in FCS, but he wouldn't be the best one on that level. If he stays at UW (to try and keep the scholarship) he most likely will not be seeing field again.

I am sad to see Durr leave, and despite the fact that he was such a poor blocker he was still the best WR we had. Can someone take his place? Absolutely. I am most confused about the OL this year. That was supposed to be a strength of ours and it ended up being a pretty unproductive part of the team. Some of that was due to the fact that all of the defenses we faced later on filled the box. Will we be seeing other guys leave? I would be surprised if we didn't have a number of others, mostly on the offensive side leave.

The real question will be, which offensive coaches will leave, and which ones will stay? I am guessing that Joe Tripodi will be staying. The reason I say this is that Sawvel has said that the OL in the class tomorrow are the best that they have recruited yet. If Tripodi left then that would destroy those recruits. Will Gary Harrell (RB) be back? Wyoming has some pretty good young RB's, and I hope that they will stay, and if he left that might destroy that position. Now the big question, how about Jovon Bouknight? I would be surprised if he were to get the OC position. The way UW finished the season I feel solidified his lack of being offered the OC position. But I do feel that he will be asked to stay on as the WR position. The other position is Shannon Moore's. There were some really obvious breakdowns on Special Teams later in the season. I would think that he would be the most likely one to leave if any of the offensive coaches were fired. I expect to see Sawvel to stay for a number of reasons, and Cody mentioned most of them on his Pod Cast. So, the really big question will be, who will be the new OC next season? UW has to get this guy on board as quickly as possible. But I am getting really jaundiced with Tom Burman at the helm. Tom is supposed to give a news conference this coming Thursday. Will he say anything enlightening or really worthwhile? Why would he start now when he hasn't said anything creative or enlightening or even worthwhile in years and years? Most of his comments and questions will be about the NIL imo. "Old Bean Counter" Burman will lack any real creativity or gumption about doing anything out of the box. He will probably say something startling like, "The football team didn't have the season that we were all looking for, so I know that Jay will revamp that side of the team and be ready for next season", wow that is about as daring as he will be.

The writing was on the wall regarding Durr. I don't agree that a lot of the offensive woes sits on Anderson's shoulders. When you have a receiver room that cannot separate themselves from scotch tape much less a D1 level secondary player, not sure Ohio State's O line can protect a QB for that long. Granted, Anderson is a pure pocket passing QB with NO mobility, but he has show arm D1 level arm talent when given the chance to actually deliver a pass. Drube did show signs of promise, but not a lot of to go off of....keeping in mind that we all thought Anderson was our savior late last year with the Svoboda experiment.

I am not ready to throw Bouknight under the bus quite yet. As OC, you should have the opportunity to get the players you need in your system. It is obvious we didn't have the players for any OC's system. For me, he gets a pass this year (assuming that we are not going to make a change @HC...)

If we can hold on to Tote @RB, that would be huge as far as maintaining some continuity in that position. Dude has talent and would be a huge win if we can keep him.

Honestly, outside of coaching, our biggest disappointment has been OL. Every year they have been touted as the strength of the offense and has disappointed year after year for some reason or another.

Finally, for those worried about getting rid of Sawful and starting over again...with the new portal game in CFB, a team can literally be completely remade every year...so what difference does it make if losing a coach results in a few player defections that probably weren't playing for the name on the front of the jersey anyway? Knowing Burman's MO....he will make up some BS as to perceived improvement or claim his hands are tied on making a decision regarding Sawful....OR will wait until all of the potential coaching options available are taken by other teams before making a decision on firing the coaching staff and scramble for left overs....again....

I don't think Anderson processes coverages quickly enough especially when the mask it at the snap. He's also not that accurate or at least consistently accurate. I agree not all his fall but there's room for improvement at that position...well, almost every position on offense.

Good post. IMO, the QB coach needs to go - and we need upgrades on OC and QB coaches. Put Jovon back as WR coach, and maybe assistant HC.

My three biggest wish list items:
  • New OC. No brainer. Bring in a proven, experienced guy (proven being the main word here. No more Jay Johnsons). Bonus if he brings a QB with him.
  • Get rid of Tripoldi and hire a good OL coach.
  • Hire a special teams coach. That phase of the team was damn near worse than the offense this year, and that's saying something.

I agree with at a minimum the OC and QB spots.

The #1 thing imo is a OC who can quickly sell his vision to players who have the attributes to fill needs. I think we have some players to work with but definitely lack - a lot.

Unfortunately I am extremely skeptical that Sawful won’t make another weak move, ruin the development of Drube with weak recruits behind him and not put any talent around him (including our RB if he stays).

And definitely upgrade special teams!

I'm really hoping they at least try to get Chad Morris. He could instantly help with transfers and I think stabilize more than just the o if pbj would let him. A seasoned staff member that could be a hc running the O. I think his philosophy would translate well to the high plains.
