What is going on with WBB?

Yah I knew they would take a step back but I didn't think they would be getting their asses handed to them like this. Losing Fertig certainly hurts.

They don't play awful they just can't make a shot. They are in games and then randomly just go ice cold and never recover.

I have said this for a few years. We haven't recruited athletic kids. We should have had 2 or 3 athletic wings to couple with Fertig and we would have won multiple championships. We continue to recruit slow girls that can shoot. You need 1 of those in our offense and then you need to recruit athletic kids. This has been a problem since we won the WNIT and went to the NCAA tournament. That team was loaded with athletes. Since then we haven't had the same athletes as other teams that we play. Recently we had Fertig that could dominate inside. This year we don't have the inside presence, the athletic wings or a quick point guard. We are too slow to get open so we have to rush our shots. That is why we go cold for long stretches. No one demands a double team or even requires help to guard so we don't get open shots. That's my 2cents.

So you're saying the coaches should try recruiting good athletes??? Hmm, why didn't they think of that....
I really think they have focused on shooting instead of athletic ability. When your most athletic player on the wings last year is the Bradshaw player from Lyman that has been out of the game for 2 years and is now married with kids, you are going to struggle to keep up athletically. She was athletic but she also spent a lot of time away and still was the most athletic player we had when she came back. That is a problem. Maybe they tried to recruit some athletes like you stated but they failed and that is the responsibility of the coach in recruiting.
