Fire Tom Burman

Question: will replacing TB improve things if the overall institutional culture doesn't change. It seems a component for the recipe for success is a driven, innovative, and intelligent AD backed by an extremely supportive and engaged president.
The President used to have a lot of influence on the athletics department because they sign off on the athletics budget. With NIL and revenue sharing now, the athletics budget isn't as important as it used to be.

Most kids will go where they get paid the most. Facilities, training tables, locker rooms, uniforms, etc just don't matter a whole lot anymore.

That's a good point but I think the president engagement is still really important. Integrating athletics more in the university and state can be accomplished with presidential input. Also, when the head of the university is actively engaged with athletics, I think it can boost a lot of areas, effort, and productivity within the athletic department.

No doubt, nil and revenue share will drive the bus unless we end up in a level with regulation on those. Still, a strong presidential attention to athletics is important, imo.

If the house is cleaned...yes. If the other dead weight in the department is allowed to hang around, well, then no.

As long as we hire an AD outside of Laramie, I think things will improve and there will be accountability. The problem now is the hometown boy and good old boys club is providing a free pass.

Exactly, one of the main issues is that everybody working in this department (and at much of the university) has gone the last EIGHTEEN YEARS without any fear of any sort of repercussion for poor performance, taking a long lunch, showing up late, lacking urgency, accountability much less going above and beyond and doing something outside of their job description that might lead to improved performance of the overall department. THis is what is leading to the mediocrity cited in the Sternberg report. When was the last time a UW athletic department staff employee got fired or terminated?

I swear to the almighty if we hire internally for this position….

Unless you have some sort of inside knowledge i don't think Burman is going anywhere. The smoke filled back door contract runs through 2027 and that is how long he will be there for barring another secret extension (which is just as likely as him leaving on his own accord or the BOT terminating him early.

MCPeachy: You are so correct. Lots and lots of dead weight over there. The concern is that replacments might be more dead weight, but with a different loook. Short of hiring someone from the private sector and coming in with a real world version, not sure what happens. But the situation now is that any positives that we gained from Bohl's 10 years has totally vanished. What happens if we lose to Nevada and Hawaii and lose the last two games? Sawful should for sure be gone and TB probably remains!

I did not make a single game this year, but yet I know my CJC billing will be showing up real soon!
