This. All day long. I hope CSU loses and then Medved beats feet for Minny to gut the sheep further. The pee12 is touting itself as the soon to be premier conference with an added emphasis on basketball. I certainly hope the sheep get dismantled. The only MWC team I would enjoy winning is UNM.
Sure, getting some extra ncaa revenue would be nice, but it’s also rewarding to have failure for the new pee12 “juggernauts” from the mwc.
I would be happy to see St Mary’s lose to Vanderbilt today and for Houston to obliterate Gonzaga on Saturday. The biggie for me is hoping Memphis makes CSU look as bad as Utard State since Memphis has made it public they see no financial incentive to play out west when they are positioning themselves for a potential inclusion with better names.
The two P2 leftovers and Boise are playing in the fill vacant TV time “Crown Tournament” on FS1. It’s a potential hint that the pee12 is making a media deal with Fox as one of their outlets. I have heard speculation Fox and Max are discussing a deal with them. I have also heard speculation that there simply isn’t the TV money to throw at either the MWC or the pee12 and the results of this season really don’t factor in as much as none of these markets are overly significant in the saturation of TV time on a routine basis. Basically, the most money would be with a merger. The pee12 would need a desperate for attention program like Texas State to be like SMU and not get anything as the admission fee.
Bottom line is the brunt of the media deals are football driven with basketball a definite second. A good measurement perhaps is the AAC (Memphis) gets around $10 million in TV shares and the AAC just set a requirement that $3.3 million per year will be set for revenue sharing. The pee12 is very unlikely to keep up with that.
Stay tuned and enjoy the traitors quick elimination.
Unfortunately other than the recent SDSU run the MWC has consistently been one and done with multiple teams.I don't care if they are future defectors or not, if current MWC teams all lose (the first two getting blasted) in the first round, its another indictment of the conference as a whole and will continue to overshadow the future MWC after the defectors leave.
If there is anything I have learned it is that the NCAA selection committee doesn't care about prior year performance. If they did, we wouldn't have gotten 4 into the tourney this year and most every other year before. Our allotment sits between 3-5 bids. With this in mind, I hope CSU gets assaulted today. I will cheer for UNM, but I hope CSU gets beaten so badly that they decide to cancel the rest of their school year out of embarrassment.I don't care if they are future defectors or not, if current MWC teams all lose (the first two getting blasted) in the first round, its another indictment of the conference as a whole and will continue to overshadow the future MWC after the defectors leave.
So CSU beat a 5 seed today. They play in a little gym that seats about 8k. They didn't waste millions renovating a building. They spent money on a coach and presumably, players. I love it when we beat the sheep in football. But in basketball, they probably have intramural teams as good as us. The fact is, they made the field of 64. We must be close to the bottom of all of D1 basketball. If anyone should be embarrassed, it should be us.If there is anything I have learned it is that the NCAA selection committee doesn't care about prior year performance. Beyond all of that, my concern starts and ends with UW. Watching the bigs and even the mid-majors play at very high levels yesterday and early today...we have a looong way to go before we concern ourselves with an NCAA bid. The teams that are in the tourney are faster, stronger, bigger, and much better coached than anything we have put on the court since 1986. Our situation reminds me of Jim Mora Sr. in his press conference when asked about going to the playoffs, "Playoffs - are you kidding me? I just hope we can win a game!"
Oh I am. I just loathe csuSo CSU beat a 5 seed today. They play in a little gym that seats about 8k. They didn't waste millions renovating a building.
