Sawvel is just dumb

How could he have bungled this so bad? Can he really not see we need a change at QB? I like Svboda as a person as he seems great and has been dedicated to UW, but holy crap. Svboda is a bad QB. How bad does one need to suck in order to get replaced?

Give Anderson a shot THIS WEEK!

How did he start the small back who quit the team over Sam Scott? What led him to misread that so bad? The only reason Scott is in is because of injuries. Pretty damning.

What is forcing him to keep Durr off the field so much and not get him the ball? King and Durr should play every snap at WR, but those two are rarely on the field at the same time.

Why did he switch offensive schemes so drastically in one season? We were a downhill power running team. Now we’re trying to run the same spread trash every other team does with the wrong personnel.

Why did he hire Johnson at OC? The guy has a bad track record and has proven thus far to ….. still suck! Wow

We, as fans, simply deserve better. We deserve an AD that isn’t incompetent and small minded, like Burman. We deserve a competent coach, especially considering the salary involved. The players deserve the best shot to win and that means playing the right players in the right spots in the right situation.

Burman is in way over his head and needs to resign and GTFO.

Sawvel needs to be done after this year and we need a new and proven coach going forward. We as fans deserve it

"we need a new and proven coach going forward"

I don't know if Wyoming is going to be able to hire someone with both qualities. Having bot would be ideal.

I haven't thought about the available pool but WYO needs an experienced coach that has an established system which has done really well in fcs or adequate in p4.

In his weekly presser he said something along the lines of, "If we bench Evan he will transfer," like it was a bad thing.
I haven't seen it yet, but if that is what he is indicating, he should be fired immediately. It is obvious that he is in over his head as far as being a leader/coach/mentor if he is being controlled by fear of what a ineffective player "might" do.

The problem is he thinks Svoboda is worth keeping as a quarterback. Svoboda is not. That much has been proven over the last 7 games. Svoboda might do well at another position but he is a failure at QB.

That is such crap. A high level of talent? Based on what? Not on his accuracy or decision making. We have a coach who obviously sees talent based on size and physical attributes and not the characteristics that really matter.
He needs to be gone today.

The thing that Sawvel said in his presser there was "Anderson's accuracy has improved and he gets the ball out quick".. okay, well those are two of the things that are currently killing your offense. If there's a chance both of those things could improve then maybe give that a shot. Otherwise you're waving the flag on the season, wasting it, you're going to lose a shit load of guys to the portal, and you'll be starting over with probably far less talent next fall.

Despite not watching any Wyoming football games since the loss to Idaho, I have caught almost every post-game and weekly press conference that Sawvel has given. In every single press conference, he says something so ridiculous that it is almost humorous. The dude just was not ready to be a head coach - that much is painfully obvious now.

I do find myself wondering how Svoboda would have done under a Bohl/Polasek offense. While I certainly agree that Evan has been nothing short of atrocious this season, I struggle to explain the stark contrast with how he looked in the Texas game last year. He went through progressions fairly quickly, was mostly accurate with his throws, and had good pocket presence. We have seen none of those things this year. If he can perform like that on the road against an eventual playoff participant, why such the drop-off in his performance this year?

Thinking back to that Texas game, I think some of what we remember is clouded by the fact that Wyoming (especially the defense) hung in there until the 4th quarter. The offense didn't do much, Svobnoda threw for all of 136 yards. The big moment was Waylee had the one long run for the only TD of the game. And don't forget, Svoboda did throw a pick 6! (harbinger of things to come)

Yup. Offense did nothing other than Waylee's huge run. And SVBODA threw a pick 6 to lose us the game.

The exact reason why I stated that Bohl set this up 3 years ago when he was bound and determined he was getting Svoboda come hell or high water. Svoboda was being groomed and Sawvel drank the kool-aid and named him starter long before spring practice. No one else was being considered.

A coach can be the nicest guy but when he becomes an ass kiss to one player while sitting other players he will lose any respect he might have. If I am on the roster and I feel set aside for the coaches pet I would be so outta there with the current rules if I felt I would find a place to play somewhere even if it meant going to Tarlington State.

Bohl designated Svoboda to be the next Josh Allen 3 years ago and Sawvel cemented it in the day Peasley consumed his eligibility.

Svoboda is the newest version of Van Der Waal and Levi Williams.

How can a coach, look any player in the eye, when he continues to play a player that doesn’t deserve it? Sawvel is going to lose the locker room if he hasn’t already. Nothing breaks up a team faster than situations like this

it’s like Sawvel wants to lose his job after this year. What a dummy.
He knows he is not at risk of losing his job after this year. Burman will not fire him. Even if we lose all of the rest of the games we play, which we likely will (unless we somehow find a way to play less crappy than Utah State), Burman won't fire any coach after a single season. I'm guessing he gets 2-3 years to completely burn the program to the ground and then TB will do something. By then, we will be in serious, serious trouble. I'd argue we already are.

This is nuts. “Evan’s our starting QB because if we dare bench him and play the other guy at all Evan will leave the team.”

Umm. If Svoboda is that selfish of a player that he is gone the second someone else gets a chance after his struggles, then we don’t want him. But I am sure Kaden Anderson has started to question if he is getting a fair shake and if being a backup on a lousy team is his desire.
