From the desk of the UW AD The city of Laramie received a lot of love Saturday during the Divisional Round playoff matchup between Buffalo and Denver. Whether it was in relation to Laramie-native, Frank Crum, or Laramie super star, Josh Allen, the Gem City of the Plains was referenced multiple times. The first Laramie name drop occurred when former University of Wyoming offensive lineman Frank Crum rumbled into the end zone in a gadget-play touchdown. Another Laramie mention occurred when referencing former Wyoming quarterback Allen and one of his remarkable plays. Only one former Wyoming Cowboy could win, and Crum moves on after a 33-30 overtime win for the Broncos. Crum had the touchdown and participated in three other snaps, as...
Roughly 116 years ago a young man named Clayton Danks rode Steamboat and the Wyoming logo was born. Wherever Mr. Danks was watching from, I hoped he enjoyed this Wyoming Wrestling win in front of a great home crowd. It was an inspiration for the graphic this week. Sefton had a tough test to start the dual and would come out on a 4-0 loss. I know losing is terrible but watching that energy in his match I knew something special was about to happen, though it took some years off my life watching. Luke Willochel was next up and was going for points from the whistle and would win via tech fall 15-0. Alden had a tough draw and was down 14-3 late in the third, I thought a loss via major decision is ok, but he got turned and lost via pin...
From the desk of the UW AD: It was nothing short of herculean what Josh Allen did Sunday at Jacksonville during the Wild Card Round. With any number of injuries ailing him, the former University of Wyoming student-athlete helped Buffalo rally past the Jaguars, 27-24. Allen was 28-for-35 for 273 yards and one touchdown. He added 33 yards on 11 carries via the ground with an additional two scores. Allen, taking into account both the regular season and playoffs, is 347-for-495 for 3,941 yards with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. On the ground, he’s totted it 123 times totaling 612 yards and 16 scores. The Bills advance to play the top-seeded Broncos in Denver. That Divisional Round game is slated for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Below is...

Wyoming returned to the mat in Orem last night against a very good Utah Valley (UVU) team. UVU beat Stanford earlier in the year and was coming off a strong Southern Scuffle showing, were as, Wyoming was coming off a ho hum showing at the Solider Salute. At the Soldier Salute Wyoming looked exactly like a team that had a month off of competition and the high of the Penn State dual. I was nervous about this dual, but two True Freshmen making debuts ignited and led the team to a dominating dual win. The dual started at 157; my guess is UVU was confident in their lighter weights and if they could weather Wyoming’s storm then they could shift the tides later int he dual. Wins by Hill (157) and Davis (174) gave Wyoming a slight 6-3...

From the desk of the UW AD: With a number of games not carrying a bunch of consequence, many of the former University of Wyoming student-athletes didn’t play or did so sparingly in the final week of the NFL’s regular season. One who didn’t, however, was Carl Granderson, and he showed out for New Orleans in its 19-17 loss at Atlanta. Granderson racked up a team-high, and personal season-high, 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, one pass defended and three quarterback hits. It was a strong conclusion in what was an up-and-down year for the former Poke. He ended with 57 tackles, six sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss, four passes defended and nine quarterback hits for 6-11 New Orleans. Below is a list of all the former Wyoming Cowboys...
Every year gives you a handful of Wyoming Athletics moments that stick. Some were wins, some were losses with tough lessons, and a few didn’t even need a final score to leave an impact. What tied them all together was the reaction. These were the moments that drove conversation, emotion, and engagement across WyoNation platforms throughout the year. Here are the Top 5 Wyoming Athletics Moments of 2025, based on what Cowboy fans talked about, argued about, and rallied around the most. 1. Wyoming Shuts Out CSU and Reclaims the Bronze Boot You don’t see shutouts in the Border War very often and that’s what made this one special. Wyoming dominated Colorado State from start to finish, walked out with a 28–0 win, and took the Bronze...
From the desk of UW AD: Not many teams in the NFL are playing as well right now as Jacksonville. The Jaguars have won seven in a row and eight of nine and are in position to win the NFC South with just one week left of the regular season. A big reason as to why Jacksonville has enjoyed a late-season surge is the play of safety Andrew Wingard. The Former University of Wyoming student-athlete is a consistent force in the back half of the Jaguars’ defense. On Sunday, Wingard boasted five tackles and a tackle for loss in Jacksonville’s 23-17 win at Indianapolis. For the season, Wingard owns 84 tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception, eight passes defended and one quarterback hit for the 12-4 Jaguars. Jacksonville closes out the...

Man, what an atmosphere those fans provided for our Wyoming Wrestling team against the #1 Wrestling team in the nation, I don’t care what FloWrestling rankings say. The announced attendance was 4,686 and did they made it feel like 11,000. It was not secret Wyoming was going to have an uphill battle at most weights, and they gave up some pins and tech falls. Often, we were the aggressors in matches scoring the first takedowns or pressing the action from the whistle. One of those matches was Luke Willochel and Marcus Blaze where it was a clear takedown for Willochel but the ref let the match continue until Wyoming threw the brick. Coach Ford was jumping around for the call like he had just won the Powerball jackpot. Luke eventually gave...

From the desk of the UW AD: Carl Granderson finally broke out of his slump and put his stamp on the NFC South race. The former University of Wyoming defensive end was a menace in New Orleans’ 24-20 upset win at division-leading Tampa Bay. Granderson stuffed the stat sheet, boasting five tackles, two tackles for loss and one pass defended. For the season, he’s made 43 tackles, 4.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, three passes defended and six quarterback hits for 3-10 New Orleans. The Saints host Carolina in Week 15. Below is a list of all the Wyoming Cowboys and how they did in Week 14. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills Allen put forth a phenomenal game in a snowy 39-34 win over Cincinnati. He was 22-for-28 for 251 yards and three touchdowns...
Today was certainly a day for Cowboy Wrestling. Big-time wins and some weird losses highlighted the day that saw three Cowboys into the Semi-Finals: Luke Willochel, Joey Novak, and Christian Carroll; one in the Consi bracket: Eddie Neitenbach. Best of Day 1 This belongs to Luke Willochel and Christian Carroll. Luke came out and upset the #15 (Cardinale) and #13 (Spidle) wrestlers on his way to the semis. Branch stated, “The good thing about Luke is nobody knows what he does because he is an instinct wrester.” That probably comes from having an older brother on the team and all those years of competing for the last dinner roll at Thanksgiving. I am sure Gabe is proud of his brother. Christian Carroll. I must admit after NDI I thought...

From the desk of UW AD: A week after Josh Allen was honored at the University of Wyoming with a jersey retirement ceremony, he set yet another NFL record. As a quarterback, he rushed for his 76th career touchdown, passing a record that was once held by Cam Newton in Buffalo’s 26-7 victory at Pittsburgh. Allen was also 15-for-23 for 123 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He added 38 rushing yards on eight carries and the one score. For the season, Allen is 243-for-350 for 2,832 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s added 78 carries totaling 409 yards with 10 scores. The Bills host Cincinnati in Week 14. Below is a list of all the former Wyoming Cowboys and how they performed in Week 13. Frank Crum, Denver...
