Pokes in the Pros: Week 18
From the desk of the UW AD: With a number of games not carrying a bunch of consequence, many of the former University of Wyoming student-athletes didn’t play or did so sparingly in the final week of the NFL’s regular season. One who didn’t, however, was Carl Granderson, and he showed out for New Orleans in its 19-17 loss at Atlanta. Granderson racked up a team-high, and personal season-high, 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, one pass defended and three quarterback hits. It was a strong conclusion in what was an up-and-down year for the former Poke. He ended with 57 tackles, six sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss, four passes defended and nine quarterback hits for 6-11 New Orleans. Below is a list of all the former Wyoming Cowboys...
Top 5 Wyoming Athletics Moments of 2025
Every year gives you a handful of Wyoming Athletics moments that stick. Some were wins, some were losses with tough lessons, and a few didn’t even need a final score to leave an impact. What tied them all together was the reaction. These were the moments that drove conversation, emotion, and engagement across WyoNation platforms throughout the year. Here are the Top 5 Wyoming Athletics Moments of 2025, based on what Cowboy fans talked about, argued about, and rallied around the most. 1. Wyoming Shuts Out CSU and Reclaims the Bronze Boot You don’t see shutouts in the Border War very often and that’s what made this one special. Wyoming dominated Colorado State from start to finish, walked out with a 28–0 win, and took the Bronze...
Pokes in the Pros: Week 17
From the desk of UW AD: Not many teams in the NFL are playing as well right now as Jacksonville. The Jaguars have won seven in a row and eight of nine and are in position to win the NFC South with just one week left of the regular season. A big reason as to why Jacksonville has enjoyed a late-season surge is the play of safety Andrew Wingard. The Former University of Wyoming student-athlete is a consistent force in the back half of the Jaguars’ defense. On Sunday, Wingard boasted five tackles and a tackle for loss in Jacksonville’s 23-17 win at Indianapolis. For the season, Wingard owns 84 tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception, eight passes defended and one quarterback hit for the 12-4 Jaguars. Jacksonville closes out the...

Wyoming vs Penn State
Man, what an atmosphere those fans provided for our Wyoming Wrestling team against the #1 Wrestling team in the nation, I don’t care what FloWrestling rankings say. The announced attendance was 4,686 and did they made it feel like 11,000. It was not secret Wyoming was going to have an uphill battle at most weights, and they gave up some pins and tech falls. Often, we were the aggressors in matches scoring the first takedowns or pressing the action from the whistle. One of those matches was Luke Willochel and Marcus Blaze where it was a clear takedown for Willochel but the ref let the match continue until Wyoming threw the brick. Coach Ford was jumping around for the call like he had just won the Powerball jackpot. Luke eventually gave...

Pokes in the Pros: Week 14
From the desk of the UW AD: Carl Granderson finally broke out of his slump and put his stamp on the NFC South race. The former University of Wyoming defensive end was a menace in New Orleans’ 24-20 upset win at division-leading Tampa Bay. Granderson stuffed the stat sheet, boasting five tackles, two tackles for loss and one pass defended. For the season, he’s made 43 tackles, 4.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, three passes defended and six quarterback hits for 3-10 New Orleans. The Saints host Carolina in Week 15. Below is a list of all the Wyoming Cowboys and how they did in Week 14. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills Allen put forth a phenomenal game in a snowy 39-34 win over Cincinnati. He was 22-for-28 for 251 yards and three touchdowns...
CKLV Day 1 Recap
Today was certainly a day for Cowboy Wrestling. Big-time wins and some weird losses highlighted the day that saw three Cowboys into the Semi-Finals: Luke Willochel, Joey Novak, and Christian Carroll; one in the Consi bracket: Eddie Neitenbach. Best of Day 1 This belongs to Luke Willochel and Christian Carroll. Luke came out and upset the #15 (Cardinale) and #13 (Spidle) wrestlers on his way to the semis. Branch stated, “The good thing about Luke is nobody knows what he does because he is an instinct wrester.” That probably comes from having an older brother on the team and all those years of competing for the last dinner roll at Thanksgiving. I am sure Gabe is proud of his brother. Christian Carroll. I must admit after NDI I thought...

Pokes in the Pros: Week 13
From the desk of UW AD: A week after Josh Allen was honored at the University of Wyoming with a jersey retirement ceremony, he set yet another NFL record. As a quarterback, he rushed for his 76th career touchdown, passing a record that was once held by Cam Newton in Buffalo’s 26-7 victory at Pittsburgh. Allen was also 15-for-23 for 123 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He added 38 rushing yards on eight carries and the one score. For the season, Allen is 243-for-350 for 2,832 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s added 78 carries totaling 409 yards with 10 scores. The Bills host Cincinnati in Week 14. Below is a list of all the former Wyoming Cowboys and how they performed in Week 13. Frank Crum, Denver...
BS on Basketball: Midway through the non-conference schedule
Wyoming has played 8 games that count so far, and sit at a very respectable 6-2. The biggest takeaway I've got to this point is that improvement is IMMEDIATE on this year's squad. If the staff sees something they don't like, they jump all over it and it's fixed by the next game. Here are my thoughts up to this point: Leland Walker is a star. The latest MW Player of the Week had a slow start to the season, likely due to this being an almost entirely new team. Those early struggles were to be expected while these guys learn to play together. Since then he's been the breakout star of the team. He doesn't NEED to be the main scorer every game like Obi did last year, but he's certainly welcomed the challenge. In the last 5 games he's put up...
Pokes in the Pros: Week 12
From the desk of UW AD Andrew Wingard has stepped forward as the spearhead of Jacksonville’s defensive effort lately. The former University of Wyoming Cowboy has led the team in tackles each of the last three games, the most recent of which was a 10-tackle effort in a 27-24 overtime victory at Arizona on Sunday. For the season, Wingard owns 69 tackles, which ranks 56th in the league. He’s added one tackle for loss, one interception, six passes defended and one quarterback hit for 7-4 Jacksonville. The Jaguars travel to Tennessee in Week 13. Below is a list of all the former Wyoming Cowboys and how they performed in Week 12. Logan Wilson, Dallas Cowboys Wilson contributed to the Cowboys’ 24-21 comeback victory over Philadelphia. He...
Wyoming vs CBU Report
After the NDI duals Wyoming had to turn around and head out to Riverside, CA to face an up and coming Cal Baptist (CBU) team. I really thought Wyoming had a shot at shutting out them out but we saw some inconstancies and guys unable to close out matches. Wyoming would pull away late with a 28-12 victory with murders row (84-HWT) scoring 16 points all in the first period. The Good Sefton Douglass continues to wrestle well; he gave up a takedown on his own shot but immediately turned into Cooper Shore and secure the pin. His confidence must be growing. Luke Willochel made his debut at 133 against a ranked wrestler. He was up 15-3 but just kind of stopped and escaped with a 17-13 win. It was his debut so a good experience for Luke...
