Not excited at all. Burman fashioned a straight jacket for himself and then let a jackal gut him. Now we have to settle as there is no time for a broad search. Sundance may be a great hire, but we are clearly settling. I guess I got my players’ coach. I just don’t know if he has the chops to run with the big dogs yet.

I’ll withhold judgement. Give him a chance. After Linder……..

This would be a home run hire given the circumstances. Few other D1 head coaches, if any, would be willing to consider Wyoming at this point. Wicks is a good dude, would energize the donor base and is absolutely a players coach.

For those against this potential hire, who are you seriously expecting?!?!?

Well he took a 3-29 team and turned it into 18-14. Hard to ask for much more at a school like Wisconsin-Green Bay. They thought enough of him to give him a raise.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 10:28 pm Did Wicks do enough to prove himself at GB?? Not the best, but not the worst. Idk how I feel
The concern that might be there is recruiting ability and connections. He had 3 open schollies at Green Bay as of now. But I’m guessing their NIL situation is even worse than ours.

How good is his team? I know they won 18 games but that's all I know. Any of his players that might follow him to Wyo.?

Their best player was Noah Reynolds. He will be reuniting with Wenzel at TCU.bladerunnr wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 8:11 am How good is his team? I know they won 18 games but that's all I know. Any of his players that might follow him to Wyo.?
The team finished tied for 3rd in the Horizon league but stumbled to end the year and lost in the first round of their conference tournament. But from winning 3 games the year before, that was quite a leap.

True, but they lost like 6 of7 to finish the year. Melted downOrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 12:39 amWell he took a 3-29 team and turned it into 18-14. Reynolds was hurt and missed most of those games. If he was healthy likely a different result in several of those losses.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 1:32 pmTrue, but they lost like 6 of7 to finish the year. Melted downOrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 12:39 am

I’m hearing Butch Pierre from NW Florida is considering the Associate HC position. . . Just kidding, but the first hire absolutely needs to change his name to Butch

Stats I saw (link below), showed he played in 27 games, averaged 33.4 minutes, 51.1% FG, 34.0% 3pt, 20 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.7 Rebounds.MN_Poke wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 5:42 pmReynolds was hurt and missed most of those games. He was the guy that identified Reynolds and brought him to Laramie in the first place, though. I'll give him full credit for getting Noah to Green Bay and using him as he needed to win games.McPeachy wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 7:46 amWithout Noah Reynolds, no he didn't. He won a coach of the year award for first year coaches. He took the 3rd worst team in the entire county (NET 310 out of 312 in 2022-2023) and turned them into a NET 227 team (for comparison, the Fresno team Wyoming lost to in the MWCT was a NET 233). That's a pretty transformative 1 year turnaround.McPeachy wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 7:46 amWithout Noah Reynolds, no he didn't. Next year - the results won't be good. We don't and can't have a team because of the way Linder f****ed us. But man I am not sure who you were realistically expecting us to hire at this point.
