Am I the only person perplexed by seeing mention of Malcom Floyd on some of these lists???
I would argue that not only was Floyd not the best WR on the team when he played, he wasn't even the 2nd best receiver on the team! Don't forget that he played alongside Javon Bouknight and Ryan McGuffey.
Hilarious. You could argue stats for a career of getting the most out of their talent level but arguing that either much less both were better is nuts. Talent evaluation is hard though and making things look easy is hard to see. Malcolm Floyd is one of the most physically gifted players ever at WYO and clearly better than jovon or Ryan McGuffey
Agreed, but he wasn't the star receiver he is now. He was good and you could tell he had great physical ability, but never really grew into his body until he became a pro. Could you imagine a 220lb Floyd vs a 200lb Floyd?

A little history please

1. Conrad Dobler
2. Jim Kiick
3. Vic Washington
4. Tom Wilkinson
5. Jerry DePoyster

I think those guys played back when John Fletcher first built Mount Rushmore.

I agree he had great potential, but he never really reached it while at UW. I was at UW his last 2 years, and you never really had the feel that Floyd was the BMOC, that was reserved for Bramlet, Javon and McGuffey (and Gottschalk to a lesser extent). Floyd's best season was 63 rec for 834 yards and 6 TDs; certainly a good season, but not outlandish numbers. Conversely, that same year, McGuffey had 68-815-5...nearly identical.

When I think of best all-time at Wyo, I'm thinking about performance and production, not talent-level or potential. If we were basing on talent alone there would be a LOT of guys on this list that we haven't mentioned.

Top 5 in no particular order:

Aaron Kyle
Conrad Dobbler
Randy Welniak
Ryan Yarbrough
Galand Thaxton

Bonus picks:
Jay Novachek
Patrick Chuckwurha

WW

Mitch Donahue
Galand Thaxton
Ryan Christopherson
Marques Brigham
Ryan Yarbrough

Honorable mentions:
WR: Marcus Harris; Jovan Bouknight; Ryan McGuffey; Wendell Montgomery; Malcolm Floyd; (TE) Jay Novacek
RB: Dabby Dawson; Devon Moore; Wynel Seldon; Shaun Wick; (I like what I've seen so far) Brian Hill
K: Shawn Flemming; Corey Wedel; Derrick Yuassi
Def: Lee Vaughn; Patrick Chuckwurah; John Wendling; Brian Van Emmerick; Robbie Duncan; Tyler Gottschalk; Chris Prozinski

Pretty well sums it up. I'm out again for a few more days. If I'm not on before the game, "GO POKES!"

Let's get this season turned around!

Who was the best kicker in Pokes history?

I always liked Sean Fleming. He was a Canadian who had a nice career with the Edmonton Eskimos. There were a couple other good kickers beside Fleming.....like Lander's Aaron Elling who played a few years in the pros or Corey Wedel who also played some pro ball.

I remember Elling now. And Yaussi. Just don't have a great recollection of having a great one. Recent past we have had some decent kickers, but nothing that I have remembered stand out.

Well we're talking about players from Wyoming teams when Top 10 rankings were reality, not hope, and we made trips to bowl games when there were only six bowl games to chose from. We're talking about a QB from Greybull who won several Gray Cups.

I got one last chance at the internet before I'm gone again.

I forgot QBs!
: Josh Wallwork, Brett Smith; Randy Welniak; Casey Bramlet; that's about it.
