You Have A Young Team, Step Back From The Ledge

I'm obviously pleased with my team and how they played on Saturday. We weren't perfect but we were still clean. You guys have probably the youngest team I've ever seen UND play against. That means a lot of things: rookie mistakes, strength mismatches, coaches adjusting to what they actually have from their players to work with amongst other things. This also means that by the end of the year your team will be 10x as good. And next season you will reap the rewards of the growing pains from day 1. This is what happened to UND last year, it's what happened to NDSU the 2 years before their first of four straight titles, and it's what will happen to your team. Stop all the fire Bohl talk, ndsu fans said the same thing once upon a time. Now they would erect a statue of the man. Give him time to build your program right and be patient.

I appreciate your kind words and your apparent lack of gloating. If there was ever a situation that warranted gloating and being a shitty winner, you had it. Thanks for not kicking us while were down, I'm sure saturday we'll do that ourselves.

I was quite impressed with your team on saturday. I think you'll have a great season.

One of the more reasoned and intelligent posts...and he's not even a Wyoming fan.

Well done.

Good stuff. I completely agree, building a team takes a while. We (Wyoming fans) are just jaded in that it's been 15 years of "maybe next year" and it's been incredibly frustrating. I'm glad I had a two hour drive to decompress and put things in perspective after Saturday.

Your program was in relatively worse shape than ours was when we hired our new coach. We had more talent than people thought from our old coach and all it took was two very good recruiting classes from Bubba and two years of back to the basics coaching and reality checks to change things around. Oh, BTW, we play in FCS and are next door to recruiting hotbeds in MN and WI. You guys being FBS and on an island makes your turn around harder. I don't like Bohl as a person but if WYO gives him time he'll get the job done, just like at NDSU. You're one year from competing and another year from being good. If your next two recruiting classes are good enough, obviously, then you'll have a good bowl team on your hands.

You've peaked my interest...why don't you like Craig Bohl as a person?

TCU, Utah, byu, and BSU would have shitcanned Bohl's best teams. The latter is still here and firing.

All the teams you mention are irrelevant to our situation.

He a dog. Always has been, always will be. In Lincoln, in Fargo, and no doubt in Larimie. Also I've always gotten a southern politician vibe from him.

You don't understand how good his 2013-2014 team was.

Right, but this could be considered an ad hominem attack with really nothing in the way of specifics. Did he refuse your autograph request or is it because under his tenure at NDSU -- ND football within the state of North Dakota became seemingly irrelevant?

Yes I do. It is harder to win the MWC than it is the FCS championship. I'm not sure what alternate reality we've slipped into on this board where FCS is essentially the same as FBS.

Other than a game or two here or there, the MWC and other FBS conferences pound the dog shit out of FCS. Weird trend on this board, right now.

That team was good...not sure what TCU, Utah, byu have to do with it since they were already out of the MWC.

But to say they would have beaten Boise? Sort of the same argument, Boise would play one top team earlier then an easier schedule....big difference between getting up for one game or replicating this over 12-13 games.

But this wouldn't be a huge issue if we weren't piss pounded by UND :tickedoff:

Are you suggesting the line between the MWC and FCS is not that great? Perhaps rather than look at an individual game here or there we should compare overall records. The MWC typically pounds FCS teams by a large margin.

The reason for bringing this up is because Bohl's success at FCS is not automatically guaranteed to translate to MWC success for WYO. It is comparing apples to oranges.

The rate of coaching successes coming from FCS to FBS more than substantiate that point.

The Bohl fanboys act like there is simply no way Bohl can fail. I don't think he will fail either, but because of the entirety of his work over his career not just his FCS time. With that said, I'm also not naive enough to assume that FCS is equivalent to FBS and that great FCS coaches are guaranteed to translate to great FBS coaches. I recognize that there is also a chance Bohl will fail.

However, the constant barrage of "well it worked at FCS so it will work at WYO" is ridiculous and is at best a marginal point.

Okay, why don't we cut the BS and have you simply state your case or what you may have heard, or what is rumored...if you don't like the guy then tell me why and lets stop playing telephone tag like a 5 year old.
