WyoNation.com Blog: Pokes get Bowl Eligible

BSU's blue turf is not famous, its infamous.

Good for the Pokes. Prime example of why these bowl games aren't stupid like some think they are. Lots of fan excitement for the postseason in Laramie. Whether it be Vegas or Albuquerque, some unsuspecting school is going to think they have a cake-walk win in December, and they'll be very wrong. Assuming the opponent isn't UCLA of course.

I'm hoping foir the Hawaii Bowl for personal reasons. :D

Personally, I think bowl games are stupid, but it does give me a reason to watch football in the middle of the day for a couple of weeks. Then again, watching as much FCS as I do, I love the playoffs.. WAY better games than bowls provide. Looking at the 1st round of the FCS tournament (not the pig-tail games) there are terrific matchups in there. Looking at a 16 team FBS playoff right now would be outstanding.. just imagining teams like Houston and Toledo (averaging 54 pts/game in the last 4) going against the "big dogs" of FBS could provide some quality entertainment. Toledo against a 2-3 seed would probably be cause for an upset.

I say;
Have a playoff for all of the conference champs, and than 5 at large spots by the next best teams overall.

And than for the teams that have winning records, but could not qualify for the playoffs, they go to bowl games, as those are still great experiences. However, cut down on the sheer number of bowl games. Like the freakin' Potatoe Bowl in Boise. Almost as bad as having the Funnel Cake Bowl in Laramie, except at least Laramie doesn't have that fugly blue field.
