If you missed out on the Oregon vs Ohio State game on Saturday night you did yourself a disservice of watching college football. What a terrific game, an excellent finish, and Dan Lanning galaxy braining everyone with an intentional 12 men on the field penalty to force time off the clock. The game ending on a whimper, quarterback Will Howard sliding down on a QB keeper with no time remaining. A misjudgment of time and space on the field, but in the end Oregon is now the #2 ranked team in the country.
Other happenings last week included LSU winning an absolutely fun game against Ole Miss in Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge on Saturday night is always a sight to behold and this one was one for the ages. LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier hit Kyren Lacy on the first play of LSUs first possession of OT, after Ole Miss hit a 57 yard FG on their possession, put the game away for the Tigers. Later that night Kansas State fended off Colorado and Heisman frontrunner (maybe?) Travis Hunter. A big Saturday night of football! Earlier in the day Texas stomped a mudhole in Oklahoma in the annual Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl. Tennessee needed overtime to beat a limp Florida team, who's been rumored to be firing Billy Napier any day now. Penn State mounted a huge comeback to beat USC on the road in overtime, the Nittany Lions are a sneaky good and not much talked about team this season. And as predicted, Missouri and Massachusetts was an extremely thrilling game.
This coming week the game everyone will have their eyes on is #1 Texas vs #5 Georgia. What a match-up that'll be in Austin. College Gameday is prepping for a big Saturday in Texas. A test to see how good Alabama really is, who has really struggled the last two weeks, goes on the road to take on Tennessee. Loser of this game will likely see their playoff chances significantly decrease to the point of not being included. Army, now ranked in the top 25, will look to keep their winning steak alive with a game vs East Carolina. For the sickos out there we have a primetime FCS kickoff on ESPN2 with South Dakota State and North Dakota state playing for the Dakota Marker. Our late kickoffs this week are an 8:00pm MT match-up with UNLV and Oregon State, then at 8:30pm MT we have TCU at Utah.
